Invited to Show Car
All
Granted the 228XI convertible is a novelty (for now, wait 2 years) but a person I work with, his son owns a serious European restoration shop and is hosting an event this Saturday. Through his father I was invited to be part of the display, I reluctantly said OK (I've been in shows before, all that work, for WHAT) So for the past week I've been detailing my 2 month old car (less than 3K) and WOW did I forget how much work this is ( for those who don't know me, this is my daily driver), the inside didn't need much work but the outside did (remember I've done this before). So I started with the cleaning (we're talking moistened towels to dissolve the crusted bugs), the removing of the wheels to clean, etc. This was the easy part. I used 65% Carnauba wax (this means I had to use my hand to soften the wax and apply with my bare hand), the main problem with this form of wax application is that you find EVERY little imperfection and did I. I already have a chip out on the front spoiler, I also noticed a DING ( this is from production not a door ding). Oddly enough, because I bought this a daily driver, it doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. I've included a few pictures, BUT it really doesn't capture the shine or the pearl like radiance of the paint. This is the BEST it will ever look, yet, it will NEVER see a car wash (a personal thing). Thanks for reading AFM Last edited by AFineMan; 05-15-2015 at 06:35 PM.. |
