Phone Map display while driving

Perhaps this has been discussed... Ii searched, read something about an adaptor and a new screen for video while the car is in motion...

I don't have the idrive/nav package, etc.

When I have my iphone connected via USB I get spotify commercial video displaying on my car's screen.... So why can't I code something to have apple maps or WAZE show up??

Thanks!

Shocked no one on here has found a way to bypass the 'block' or whatever stops any app from being displayed on screen... regardless of it being a connected drive app or not

there is no block... bmw has to build an app for idrive or approve somebody to build it.....

It's like if you had an iphone app and you wanted to install it on an android phone.... you need to build an android app... this is the same, they need an idrive app....

if bmw ever implement apple car play then most apps on the phone should port to the idrive screen...

The closest thing you can get is having your phone screen mirrored onto the display.

By the way, does anyone know if this works for android 5.0?

How do you make this work? It would be super helpful for those of us who don't have Nav.
