Wondering about the process of lowering my car??
Im looking into lowering me 328i base model when I get different rims but am unsure about some things. If I get new lowering springs, do i need to get new shocks or anything else? Will my ride quality suffer greatly? Will my ride be bouncy?
Im thinking about getting H&R Super Sport springs. Would also like to hear people's opinion of those springs. |

Ride quality is your own opinion. From reading around the sport springs seem to improve a majority of people's opinion on ride quality, but some do not like it. The super sport seems to be 1/3 liked it and 2/3s thought it was too aggressive. You need to try and find someone local and ride for yourself. Bouncy? Just the opposite, I do not have H&R but lowering springs generally get rid of the bouncy stock F30. |

Wonder no more...just do it!
I waited 3 years to do this, and this is my only regret: for not doing it much sooner! My 335 luxury line no sport stock suspension was bouncy all OVER the place... i just cant believe BM released such a bouncy car. Anyhow, i have just gotten the H&R sport without any new shocks, and it is so much better. This is how the car should be from day one!!! I agree with Jera above: - Super Sport is TOO low, unless you like you car slammed - H&R Sport is low enough, but anymore and its annoying to go through speed bumps. - news shocks would definetely be a better combo, but you do NOT need them. Since the H&R are sitting on OEM shocks in my car, i was afraid the bounciness would not be gone, BUT it IS GONE practically. I love my car even more with this new setup!!! Looks great and gone is the bounce. No more gaps and with spacers, its all flush too. DO IT! I will post some pictures later tonight if you want

From the Front:
BEFORE: AFTER: BEFORE with the SUV look: AFTER: Any lower, and i think it would be too obnoxious... This strikes the right balance between look, ride compliance, and practicality (over bumps): Keep in mind, we added spacers too when lowering the car: Front: 15mm! Rear: 12mm. I love it. Let me know if you need more photos, i got more Last edited by DrivenByE30; 05-16-2015 at 12:58 PM.. |

Very helpful post
Thanks Driven for your comments and photos. I have been debating lowering my 428i as well after adding 19 inch wheels. Your post was really helpful. Sounds like most people are very happy with the H&R sports.

you are welcome gsilver
I am on 19' OEM wheels, so that should give you an idea as well. Be sure to go to this thread for some side problems... http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1082735 Thankfully we dont have too many of those pot-holes in SoCal, but try to keep an eye for them...
