Difficulty With iPod in iDrive

So I have had my 2012 328i for a little over a month now, but I cannot wrap my head around the logic of iDrive for my iPod (I have a classic).

For instance, on Random mode, why is it that there is NO WAY for me to go to the next song or go back to the previous song? The thumb wheel on the steering wheel can only replay the current song, and the rotary dial when moved left or right only jumps in the menu. It's been frustrating for me to jump around in the menu to go to Tracks or Artists or Albums just to change a song.

Am I missing an option or package or is it my iPod? Or is my version of iDrive just dumb? I'm really annoyed.

i get a idea for you , you may update your headunit in the dealer then reboot your ipod ,have a try .,it's the software problem

I actually stumbled across http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...=661778&page=3 and it seems like the only way to go to the previous or next track in Random/Shuffle mode is to press the < or > keys next to the CD drive on the main dash, which I have confirmed earlier on my drive home works. It still sucks though how you can't see in advance what the next track is on the HUD.

Unless anyone else has found anything else, please advise.
