Active Autowerke Exhaust! ~Gran Coupe Content~

Just thought I'd share the newest mod to the Gran Coupe... I ordered the AA exhaust from Jeff at Top Gear Solutions. Killer pricing, and great service! It doesn't hurt that he's a forum sponsor too.

Give him your business, you won't be disappointed.

The muffler came direct from Active with great packaging. The finish on this thing is beautiful, and the adjustable tips are a nice touch. The OEM tips were really small against the wide rear end of the GC, so the 80mm duals helped to balance out the back of the car a bit. It still needs some tweaking to find center, but I was over laying on my back for one day.

Yeah, I'll put something together in the coming day. The sound is pretty good. Fairly quiet, and makes the most our of a 4 cylinder grumble.

No black tips, just machined. It was like $660 shipped. Best price I found!

No droning at all. It feels a bit quicker off the line, no incredible gains though.

I have it too - I have been happy with it, good noise all around, although I wish the exhaust was louder still...when it idles it's still too quiet.

I noticed a power gain, but might just be my imagination. Only a dyno would tell.

This exhaust is the most popular one we sell for the 428, feedback we got from customers:
Sound is very balanced. Considerably louder than stock but it is not obnoxious.
No noticeable drone
No power loss or gains.

Looks awesome. I wonder why some complain of drone and others don't. Is that an installation issue that can cause it?

Not sure, honestly. I often wonder if everyone who mentions drone really understand what it actually is. Installation might impact it, if there's an exhaust leak that could change the frequency of an exhaust. A loose exhaust could create vibration that is commonly present with the frequencies that create drone... That may be what people complain about too. At the end of the day, drone in a car comes from a frequency range of roughly 130-140hz. I'd imagine any good tuner would be testing for this when designing their exhausts and reacting accordingly.
