My observations running our Gc, together with our e46 316i (still in good nick, would have got nothing for it, so keeping as runaround )

GC LIKE

looks
Colour Glacier silver, so easy to keep clean
IDrive
Coral RED interior
£50 upgrade to steering wheel, feels so nice in the hand.
sport seats/heated, 19 inch wheels

Dislike
Standard audio
8 speed Auto

as I say, I run both cars back to back, and the standard audio in my 99 e46, is so much better, didn't go for HK, thought modern tech would be equal to our 99 car, its not. E46 is cd based, usb memory stick used on GC, but even trying single slot cd, no better.

After all I had read on the 8 speed, kinda disappointed, cant really put my finger on it,
moving off from lights, almost feels like a manual driven by alearner, a bit jerky, and if you are slowing down for lights in the e46, it sort of freewheels,then if they change to green, you speed up smoothly, where in the GC its a bit jerky. sorry hard to explain, but for now I prefer the old Auto.

Don't get me wrong I love the car, but as our island has a 35mph speedlimit, final judgement will have to wait till I take it to Europe.

Must be strange buying a car knowing it will never go above 35mph. Sport auto has probaly never been in a higher gear then 4th, 4 wasted gears

That looks really nice, not sure how you cope with a limit like that, although you have the beauty of the island to compensate.

Love the plates over there as well, ours are so ugly and conformist.

I haven't had mine a month yet, but I agree I have the standard audio and yep its a bit lacklustre, one thing I'm gutted I didn't upgrade. As for the Auto box. I love it. Also the USB socket it too far back in the arm rest, you need to be a yoga expert to plug anything in it.

I could be wrong but the jerkiness is not from the auto tranny, its the 4banger turbo.

The m235i I had witht the 8auto was butter smooth, while my 428gc is jerky due to turbo lag

Why not get a cheap iPod and leave it in all the time?

Yeah its the turbo lag, you can reduce any jerkyness it if you accelerate smoothly, however push the gas peddle just a little too far and the dam thing slams you back in the chair ok.

OP, your GC looks fab in that combo, nice 19's too. Came close to one of those but the 'hearse' won over in the end.

I got Music+ on my windows phone, which is free and you can download albums. I put them on a pen drive and download to the cars hardrive. Also I used to have an Ipod plugged into my X3. One night I left the white lead hanging out from the arm rest. Next morning smashed drivers window and one missing Ipod.

Hadn't thought about turbo lag, first turbo car I ve had, auto is buttery smooth once on the move, so perhaps I am doing the auto a diservice,glad I got the electric folding mirrors, would be a pain to get in garage otherwise.

Fair point. I should try downloading a CD to the HDD. Seems odd to do this in a car!!
