Scuffed 403m - where to repair in NW?
today, whilst washing everyone else's cars I jumped in my to move it five foot to swap cars on the drive and kerbed a wheel. Gutted doesn't do the feeling justice.
Once I've eaten I will nip out and photograph, every thread needs a piccie lol, I don't want it to get worse so need to get it repaired and wish I had taken the wheel cover out now. I meant to shop around but never got round to it. First question - does anyone repair 403m wheels? Second - what happens, do I drive there, they take it off, fettle, then put back on a couple of hours later? Third - rough cost estimate? I am assuming around £100 Lastly, do you think I would get away with taking out the cover, waiting a week then claiming, assuming I can take it out 4 months into ownership? Edit - ok, I didn't really mean this. Just frustration at forgetting to get cover talking. Deliberately didn't get paint chips cover as it didn't cover the bonnet, or tyre as it reduced for worn tyres, but always meant to get wheel cover, just forgot. Cheers

The dealer refurbished three of mine before selling the car to me. Bmw replaced the fourth under warranty due to corrosion around the centre cap. The salesman reckoned they paid £55 for diamond cut wheels, so probably about £100 to the private owner. Yours may repair without being cut though (new lacquer)

125 plus vat and three days turnaround
Given a wheel can be damaged at any time I am tempted to leave it, will serve as a reminder everything I clean the car to be more careful. Is there anything I can use to home fettle and replace the lacquer. Given it would get acid washed and skimmed if it is repaired I can't see how I could screw it up any further.

I guess you could flat sand with 3000/4000 unigrit (posh wet and dry) then polish up, the re lacquer. I'd shop around. Maybe even a local smart repairer could get 90% dis for less money.
As you say, what have you got to loose if it's going to be dipped, stripped, lathed and re lacquered. : |

If you're going to leave it the I'd just clean it up I.e. Degrease it etc and apply some lacquer over it try and stop any corrosion, just use one of those touch ups from Halfrauds, although it might not bond well to the bare alloy.

If you are going to leave it defo clean it and put lacquer on it - otherwise moisture will get under the edges and make it grow. Perhaps file down the rough edges first.
If it is any help they are usually common on eBay, I bought 2 fronts on eBay for about £280. I actually have one spare for the next time the Mrs kerbs it again S |
