My Austin Yellow M4 got rear ended

Long story short, stopped at a red light for around 30 seconds, then a red p plater (one year driving experience license holder in Australia) rear ended me

I'm going to ask my insurance for a new bumper, but I'm just wondering if Austin yellow is hard to match?

Thank you

Sad to see!. order a new bumper instead of fixing it. Ask you're BMW dealer for reputable shop. Austin Yellow
is hard to match, so it is best to replace the whole bumper.

Someone backed into my front bumper necessitating a new cover and I had the same concern. My body shop guy told me it's actually a relatively easy color to match (and that certain grey colors are actually the hardest to match, which has been my experience in the past). He was right - a perfect match and no way to tell from looking it's been painted.

I hit a deer or should I say a deer hit me on the front bumper. As you can see I have Silverstone and dealer said very hard to replicate that color. But he is an excellent guy to work with and they did a 98% match on the color. You will never get 100% it doesn't matter what they tell you. With the human eye you cannot tell the difference.

Any good shop should be able to repair the bumper and it will be as good as new, no need for a new one really, as for Austin yellow being hard to match, well yeah but not impossible, again a good shop will match it no problem.

That's nothing OP, get it repaired and keep enjoying it, life goes on

Thank you all very much! I've fixed my bumper today. It was a repair as its plastic bumper. They told me it's easy fix. Color seems a bit different, but it could be just a placebo effect.

It's unlikely you will need a new cover. That can easily be properly fixed by taking the bumper cover off (checking to see if the core piece is cracked), sanding down the areas, epoxy filling where needed, spraying the section and clearing the bumper. Done well, this will be the best looking option.

New bumper will require a full spray of the bumper and that may not match 100% to the rear quarters. It isn't the color, your paint is new so no fade yet. It's the metallic. Sprayed at the wrong angle and it won't match. The bumper might be more or less sparkly.

Better to have this happen on a new yellow car than a 5 year old red car.

In the US (in a major metro area), this is $600-$800 to fix as I stated. For what you stated that is closer to $1600-2000. If you want to change out the bumper cover and I would seriously suggest you don't, your insurance company will probably let you. You will just need to pay the difference. (but don't quote me on how things are in Australia)

AY is a nightmare to match I've just £5500 worth of paint and most of that was labour to get it right.

Gutted for you!

In Australia, if not in fault. All is covered by the faulty party include car rental and more.

Thank you anyways for the helpful info!
