Cruel and unusual punishment

I brought my E90 in for maintenance yesterday and received this pig as a loaner. I've had many F30 328's as loaners and haven't minded them. This one in GT form, however, is abysmal. How did BMW sell ANY of these? Not only is it the ugliest model BMW has produced since the first gen X3 but it is the worst driving "3 series" I've ever been in. No wonder it's in loaner service. Someone needs to slap the engineers in Munich when ideas pop up like this to ensure the public isn't exposed to such horrific misjudgements in product development.

The garage has been closed for almost 24 hours. I'm embarrassed to drive it.

I had to LOL at your description. I, too, think they're fugly...but see a few around town. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess.

I've only had 320i's as loaner. Seems like a decent daily driver. A wee bit too softly sprung for me, but can scoot and merges OK once you get to 2000rpm.

I would say the designers in Munich are laughing it up and celebrating.

I mean, they basically took a Honda Crosstour, slapped a BMW badge on it, and sold it for $5k+ extra.

That's brilliant if you ask me.

I bet they got raises.

Ohh God!!! Your first post is hilarious. That thing is a pig of a car and shouldn't carry the 3 series badge. The M Sport looks a tad better, but it's still horrible.

Exactly! What the OP is forgetting is that there aren't many on the road so it's obviously a special car. Not ugly.

OP - count how many you see as you drive around the next few days. That will tell you whether this car is great or not.

Also, this is a GT. It's an incredible blend of sports car and touring car. This is not just a three series. It's a GT.

Agreed. It's as bad as a mini van. Actually a mini van is better.

Everytime I see one, I always wonder "WHY?!?!" Why did someone design and approve this? Better yet why would someone purchase / lease one?

I wonder how many of these BMW moves in a month?

My neighbor has one and I cringe every time I see it. It's like that really good looking family with the one ugly fat kid.

I think it looks okay. In fact, it reminds me of the 428gc a bit, especially in Mineral Gray. If only it had coral red leather and boomerangs on the sides.

They both have hatches if that's what you mean.

Although I could see the parallel. The GC is that hot girl you remember from high school. The GT is that same girl 10 yrs and 50 lbs later, amirite?

Shows how little BMW cares about the 3 Series these days. It's the Family Series now, very evident their intentions.

Nice to be a 4 Series man, the Sport Series, and avoid all this petty entry-level Family Series banter.
