E90 auto transmission cooler hose
Hello,
Recently I noticed my auto transmission cooler hose is weeping a little from the cooler-hose connection. (Sorry, I have to steal pictures here and there). This is where the leak is, the big quick-fit connector to the cooler (ignore the text, since I stole the photo from somewhere) After a bit of research, there are a few options: 1) Bite the bullet, and buy the original BMW hose, the WHOLE hose, flexible and rigid, which is quite expensive. 2) Exchange the flexible part, and use regular hose clamps, as outlined below: http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/i...owtopic=125941 3) Take off the original connector, replace the O-ring, which may or may not work. I'm thinking of going with option 3, since it's the cheapest. Question is, does anybody know the size of the O-ring inside the connector? |

I was looking for the same information. The idea of needing a set of new rubber hose and metal pipe assembly is just plain stupid. A plain hose with two clamps at the ends would have been more reliable.
You may be able to search up the original pictures and diagrams. The numbers I got off it then were 19mm-OD x 14mm-ID x 3mm. I suspect 12.5mm-ID may offer a better seal (the 14mm-ID may be hardened diameter). There are two o-rings in each connector separated by a plastic washer (or three washers I do not remember) that go on either side of an o-ring. This whole ATF cooler setup by BMW is just a poor design. Expired site: https://www.fightchaos.com/2020/08/r...il-cooler.html |
