Car Built - Shipment tracking?
Morning Chaps!
EDIT: Thread Title No longer says, @Tracking your car@ Misleading, and if we had lawyers here, i could have got my ass into trouble. Pretty sure this has been covered a trillion times, but this flipping phone app has no search facility. I have my last 7 digits vin, I used a decoder which shows build date as 12th March. Dealer tells me expected delivery around 03.04... I remember people were tracking boats and other stuff to have a closer guesstimate. Any help would be appreciated and may assist my sleepless nights a little Last edited by MWA; 03-19-2015 at 08:59 AM.. |

The tracking is only available for the US guys and you'll need dealer updates to locate its whereabouts. To help you though, mine started build on 5th March and was at the dealership yesterday so a grand total of 13 days. The deciding factor is whether it gets a spot on the boat to cross over. I've read some cars have been sitting at port longer than it should have!
My dealer said it's better to "over estimate than under deliver" so if my experience is anything to go by, you ought to be able to pick up next week.

So disappointing... I was sure this was going to be about Silverstone, Donnington, Snetterton, Upgraded brake fluid, and how not to kill brand new Michelin Pilot Super sports in one track day!

Mine is in transit (Prod date 11th March) - was very excited and the thanked dealer for update. But then i thought I should have asked.....
1) What does in transit mean? from factory to ship? on ship? or in UK on way to dealer? 2) When it says Production date on vin tracker sites - does this mean when it started or when completed?

My dealer and I agreed that he would call me every Monday to give me an update with my car. This Monday 16.03.2015, He called to say the car is in Production. I checked the VIN Decoder site and it said Production Date being the 12.03.2015. So this leaves me with an answer for your Q2 as the Production Start Date... How long does it take to Produce a car? Does production lead time differ between a standard BM and an M? |

Mine was completed on 13 March and I was told yesterday that it was shown as sitting at the dock (as above 9610: Port of Exit) awaiting loading onto the boat over. How long it takes to get it on and over was not explained to me |

Spoke to my contact earlier today. Seems there is a backlog (possibly due to strike) and they are trying to clear the cars at port as quickly as they can.
Said he'd heard that they were trying to gain the use of a larger ship. General gist and reason for the call was it isn't looking likely for me to get delivery by the end of the month |
