BMWHAT Oil Level in mm?

Hello,
My oil sensor is not working right so I am using the app bmwhat with an bt obd adapter to check the oil level but it is given in (mm) which is very weird, any one has any idea on what the level should be at in mm in an e90 328? Also the sensor works very weird, it shows me max level all the time even when I don't have oil. Any ideas?

Thank you guys

To answer your questions:

> For the units:
  • Go to the 'Settings' menu at bottom of main pull down (will be right after 'In Apps')
  • On the scrolling menu at left, scroll all the way to bottom & you'll see a button that if you hit - it will switch between Metric Units & Imperial Units

As far as the sensor goes, it's obviously fubar & needs replaced. BMWhat will only read/display what the sensor puts out. So if the sensor is broke & putting out garbage - that's what the BMWhat will display...

By changing the units it gives me the oil in inches, still i don't know how many should I have

The sensor of the car always shows max but the readings from the bmwhat app changes if a drain some oil or I put like .59 or .88mm. I don't know how to interpret that lol
Thanks for your help

Funny, cause my BMWhat displays Oil Level in % Percentage, not inches or mm

That would make more sense, I have the iPhone app. Which one do you have?

Well if you think the oil level sensor is not working, then going through the OBD II port to read it instead of the gauge cluster or idrive wouldn't work either since there is only one oil level sensor in the engine.

The sensor takes over five minutes to get a reading and then reports updates every 20 minutes after that. Also, the engine has to reach several parameters to get a correct reading. And after an oil change the sensor will read the old level until it changes once the system updates.
