Do you think BMW would release an AWD M2?
Here's the source article that claims BMW will release an AWD M2 in markets like Canada. Personally I am ecstatic if this is true. Living in Canada M cars have always been off limits, especially because where I live winter is 10 months of the year with alot of ice and snow.

I wouldn't read into it too much until something like that is confirmed.
The 2 series is a low runner on BMW's sales ladder - selling only tens of thousands of units. The M2 will be a tiny niche of the 2 series sales, which even if very successful, will likely still only sell thousands of units. To make an Xdrive variant will still require the huge amounts of regulatory testing and certification to make it road legal, so even though the engineering could be done with the existing parts bin, to make money back on the regulatory makes for a small business case. So again, nothing makes it impossible, but I would expect them to see how many M2's start to move before considering offering an AWD version, and I have to imagine that probability is fairly low - but that's based only on statistics, not insider information.

And the M2 xDrive will be naturally RWD biased, a win/win configuration for those who need and/or prefer awd.

I think they'll keep the 2-3-4's as RWD. |

I doubt it , like others have said , Though it technically could be possible if the m2 drivetrain is based off a m235i rather then a m3/m4 since some parts could be used off m235xi.
I wouldn't get to excited there is a very slim chance they'll offer AWD sorry |

I would welcome an AWD M2, I was originally looking to buy an M4, but leaning more towards the M235i xDrive now. Actually, M2 xDrive would be perfect. |

Time will tell. And I agree with you and everyone about the CLA45. Aside from it's lack of quality and poor reviews, it's about the ugliest vehicle I've ever seen. The new RS3 on the other hand, a much better car. That one IMO is the competitor.

RWD with snow tires is more than safe. Unless you want to take the car to a ski mountain, why not just a RWD car and slap some dedicated snows on it? You'll need those tires anyway for the AWD version.
