SPORT SEATS IN THE 335i COUPE
Hello, just Wondering For Those Of You That Have A 335 With The Sport Package How You Like The Sport Seats And If The Sides Where They Kind Of Wrap Around You Bothers You At All.i Just Ordered One With These Seats To Get The 18' Sport Wheels But I Sat In One With The Regular Seats And The Regualr Seats Seem More Comfortable But Was Wondering Is The Sport Seats Break In And Are A Little Less Snug Around The Side Area.thanks

the side bolsters adjust. You can get them tight and get them loose. They are worth the price and when your driving the car the way it should be, just tighten them as it will give you a much better feel for the car and keep you in place.
never heard of any complaints on the sport seats.

I like the Sport Seats. My 328 has regular seats and I actually prefer that for a longer drive, but for aggressive driving or cornering, the Sport Seats hold you tight much better. It depends on what you're looking for. You can just adjust the bolsters in the sport seats so that they're flat if you think it's more comfortable that way.

Well you can inflate the sides or deflate them all the way, you dont HAVE to have them inflated.
That being said, I absolutely love them. Before I read the manual, I drove maybe 3 days without the sides inflated and I was sliding side to side on turns. Now, they just hold me in place so well with zero discomfort. Great seats, albeit it heavy ones. By the way, you dont have to capitalize the first letter in every word.

sport seats in the 335i coupe
Ok,thanks for the input.I sat in one at the dealer and being a bigger guy,I did release the sides all the way out and it still felt a little snug but seemed to be ok.I'm sure they'll flatten out or break-in after a while anyway.

I have a 328, but the sports seats are the same, so I will add a comment.
At first the sport seats take a little getting used too. but onece you fiddle with the air pressure on the side bolsters, extend the thigh rest and, find the right pressure on the lumbar, the seats are amazing

I love them, but if your a real big guy I could see how the bolsterd might be bothersome - they adjust a fair bit and I love the seats so much more than the non sport seats I used to have!

Not really a complaint here but a cautionary note.
We did a 4000 mile trip this summer in our three month old 335 coupe with sport seats. After 3000 miles I developed a very tender spot on one cheek which hurt like fire when I did something to put pressure on it. I tend to slouch to that side so I was careful to favor it all the way home and it eventually went away. No bruise, no redness or any other indication of trauma. I checked to make sure there was nothing in the seat padding that was putting pressure there. My doctor told me that I had most likely pinched the nerve on the extending part of my pelvic bone in that area. What I learned was that the seats are too good and can fully immobilize you if you don't set them for some room to move around. On the other hand, the tight setting would be great on the track. |

I like the sports seats better than the non sports seat but they are really a downgrade from the Recaros that were in my S4. I also seem to have developed the same problem that I had with my previous E36 M3 seats. I get a pain in my right leg after only riding for 10-15 mins. Never had that with my A6 or S4. Probably has to do with the seating position and nerve impingement. Probably doesn't affect other owners in the same manner.

Love my sport seats. Worth the package alone.

I love the sport seats, not to mention they just look better than the regular ones.
My friend with a 350z is seriously in love with the seats in my car. Sorta creeps me out a little bit. |

After having both, there is no comparison. The sport seats are far better.

We were able to do a long trip with it in December, but we switched drivers and I was on cruise almost the whole time I drove. Cruise avoids the matter as the problem is limited to my right leg. I actually kind of hate being in cruise, it's not enjoyable or not even safe feeling, it's almost TV or game-like. I feel like I need to keep my right leg in a strange, "suspended" position to be right on the throttle. it never feels supported. I had a different issue with the e46 zhp's, but a lumbar pillow completely solved the slight lower back ache I had in that seat (and those cars didn't have lumbar). Neither the cayman nor the Civic Si (our other two cars) have lumbar, but they have good seats and a normal throttle. I've tried every adjustment possible. I'm going to try a wedge to sit on, and maybe even a lumbar pillow though that doesn't seem to be the issue. It's especially annoying when the problem seems isolated to me. I did a bunch of searches and found posts like "if you're not comfy on the e90 sport seats, go have your back looked after, ha ha...". Rare complaints about the narrowness of the sport seats, but no throttle complaints. This has all but stopped my enjoyment of the car. When you're uncomfortable physically, driving feel, auto/stick, engine, turning... it all goes out the window. Actually the e90 sport seat/throttle hurts my gf when driving as well, but she says she's found a position that lasts her a little while (for the rare occasions on which she does drive it). Last hope is in the wedge/pillow or the winter mats from the previous owner. They don't fit well (seem a bit homemade cut) and it's remotely possible that they leave my right foot unsupported. |

There's only one thing I'd change about the seats: the bolsters. They hug, and I love it like that, but the way they're shaped isn't the best way imo. I think the bolsters themselves need to be less chunky towards the middle of the seat (they're very round) and they need to go out further. When I want lots of lateral support and I max out the tightness it feels like I can't actually sit in the back of the seat because they pinch at the back.

I find the seats amaizingly comfortable and also very graby. I had a coupld of cars with Recaro seats from factory but I must say that the sport package seat on the 335i are very well designed.
