Considering Color Change on Order
I have a Estoril Blue 435i GC on order. Now after looking at the Carbon Black I am giving my order some thought. Has anyone changed an order before it has gone into manufacturing or is assigned a VIN?

I'm sorry, but my wife things it's Electric Baby Blue, something out of Miami Vice, she doesn't get all the male enthusiast love for the color. She thinks its for chicks.

I love EB (pretty biased here) but I have seen Carbon Black in person on 5er MSport and it is definitely a hot color! Not as standout-ish as EB tho.

This might help. Just recently did the BMW Factory Tour along with European Delivery. One of the trivia nuggets they shared (as I recall it) is that the bodies are painted and racked waiting for production, and it's not until they are mated with the chassis that a VIN is assigned. So, it would appear, technically, what you want to accomplish is possible. Of course there's always BMW policy to contend with, and there's also the possibility that I misunderstood the tour guide. Anyway, it seems possible to me. Good luck, and go black.

Don't get me wrong, the EB is an amazing color, I love it and looks different in person then in pics, but it works very well on the 3 series, for the 4 series I don't think that they look in that color.

Another vote for carbon black. I love the look of estoril blue but will you still love in 6 months? It's kind of a "look at me!!!" color. Again, beautiful but it's a bright color.
We have a CB 4GC here at work and it's amazing! My favorite color on the GC. |

My humble vote is for CB. You'll blend in better, which is great when the boys in blue are watching out on the roads.
Plus it just looks sick. But yeah, +1 on trying to keep it maintained. My E90 was black and would get scuffs/swirls/whorls just from looking at it wrong. Huge fcking headache.

What status is your order? If you don't know, check with your CA he can lookup in the system. If 111 you can change color. If 112, some options get locked out and no changes are accepted. Next step is 150 where the entire order is locked.

I guess your decision depends on how OCD you are about your car being perfectly clean all the time. If you are a perfectionist than CB may not be for you. However if you are somewhat normal and realize all cars get dirty, go CB and buy some good car shampoo.

I have a 73 AMX some people love it, some people hate it. I love it even when my neighbor hood kid had mistaken for a Ferrari. For a second I thought, gee should I let them think that, than I decided to set them straight " Its a Rambler" So the AMX is red, the Volvo XC60 is white, and the BMW is blue. Who says I don't buy Amarican. If people like my taste, great if not that is what the throttle is for, to find people with better taste, or who taste better |

Decision Made
I was able to change my order today to Carbon Black. I am a bit of a perfectionist, but can handle it being dirty. My current 335is is Black Sapphire so this will be somewhat easier. My wife liked the CB better too.
