M2 color palette

5/7/2015 update: Well, now we know. Exterior colors at launch are

Long Beach blue metallic
Mineral gray metallic
Black sapphire metallic
Alpine white

Interior is black with blue stitching.

All the wishful thinking in this thread...oh well. I'm satisfied! And it makes choosing that much easier...

---------------

Like many of you, I'm getting VERY anxious to learn more details about this car and am already on one dealer's list. I wanted to start a thread to speculate about color options we'll see on the car, especially with the new, somewhat polarizing colors (AY, YMB) introduced on the M3/M4 chassis. Here are a few of my guesses at this point:

Long Beach blue
Donington gray
Black sapphire
Mineral white
Silverstone II
A new red (didn't SCOTT26 mention this?)
Alpine white

And how about interior choices? Will we see Merino leather like in the M3/M4? If so, I imagine will see an identical palette:

Black cloth/leather (alcantara?)
Black
Sakhir
Sonoma
Silverstone

Again, just brainstorming here and trying to imagine my build MONTHS before it even happens. Surely I'm not the only one doing this...

Edited the OP to reflect the probability of some sort of base cloth/alcantara option. I can't imagine NOT having that option when its more "upmarket" siblings do...

Can't agree with you more about DG over SB

SCOTT26 did mention there might be a color similar to this old photoshop of what an M2 might look like.

My first choice combo is Austin Yellow/Cloth, followed very closely by Long Beach Blue/Cloth. If cloth is not offered, then I'll go with a black interior and just swap out to my own seats afterwards.

There's really no way to know if BMW is going to offer the full color choices, or go limited to only a few colors like the 1M.

All I want for my M2 is Tanzanite Blue. The interior I'll figure out later.

Unfortunately, I don't think the factory is equipped to handle Individual orders...

I wish I could get a real yellow like Dakar yellow again

I think the proportions and lines will warrant the colour.
Failing that, gosh. Don't actually know. Definitely want a stand-out colour though

I've never been the hugest fan of DY to be honest. Same with Phoenix Yellow. I absolutely adore Austin Yellow though.

I think regardless of what happens, even if BMW offers only a few colors, one of them will be a bright one I would think. Whether that's yellow, red, blue or orange, who knows.

A bright, bright RED.

Not that dark red they call Melbourne Red; it looks like dead blood.

Also as long as there is a saddle brown equal to Terra Cotta. Looks great under so many main colors.

The M2 needs at least one flashy colour imo. I hope we get either AY or something similar to SO, but if not I'll go for an individual colour

Well...if there's enough passionate requests on the forums, maybe they'd consider limited runs of bespoke colours. I recall a 1m being factory painted in a special colour, last one off the line I think, in something resembling Java Green??

Anyways, another idea might be to offer the group ED participants (Canada and U.S. have them, don't know about the ROW) a couple or so "limited" colours to choose from in order to celebrate the event.

Another generic idea open to all first takers might be a limited run of 1st Edition cars that are offered with a couple or so of one time, one production run colours that also represent the celebration of BMW's 100th anniversary. A choice of Frozen Brilliant White or a Frozen Blue (Estoril, Monte Carlo...whatever matches the brand blue) would be.....orgasmic!! Maybe offer regular gloss coat versions for those intimidated by the Frozen paint?

Oh man, I would kill for "Frozen" options if any of my fantasies above come true. I'm wondering how they'll produce the M2's at Leipzig, ie will they be built in blocks where all of the cars on the line on designated dates are M2's or will they be mainstream and fit in anywhere on the line with the RP 2ers? Reason I ask has to do with paint capabilities. Can special runs be given special colours? Hopefully someone can answer this, I've not been to Regensburg where M3's are made and Munich wasn't making the M4 when I was there so I have no clue lol.

Otherwise you've all got Donington and some vibrant red & blue options covered so I'll move on to the interior where I pray they offer a Merino leather option and/or add a rust-coloured leather to the palette. My worst fear is that they cheap out on interior trim options ala the 1M which looked no different really than an ordinary 135 back then - exception being the deviated stitching (love this) and the Alcantera which IMHO is a horrid idea for dash trim.

And there's lots more to wish for but I'll take a breather for now.
