Leather feeder and new car smell

Wanting to knew what people use to feed their leather seats in the car. I have used auto glym leather feeder and cleaner in the past and it has changed the smell of the car, not to an unpleasant smell, but to a different smell to the new car smell that was in there before. Anybody have anything that combines the two?

Secondly does anyone know of an air freshener which actually keeps the car smelling new? I've tried various in the past and can't seem to find one...

U use autoglym as well but I also use this fabric softener packets for the car, something like this

Choose some smell you like. Make sure you get the tube packaging type. Stick in your passenger door. Last forever.

I've used Dr Leather, AutoGlym and Swissvax products all with decent results.

Glipton liquid leather, used it on my last 3 cars. They also do a great scuff master kit that does what it says on the bottle!

Another Glipton user. Good stuff and IMHO brings up the Leather better than Autoglym.

Subjective view, and i am sure everyone has their favourite.

Ok thanks for all the info. Will have a go with something other than auto glym since I've already used it and want something slightly different.

I've been using the turtle was leather cleaner and conditioner, it's the creamy coloured stuff, and that's been quite nice, doesn't overpower your natural interior smell

There is so much debate over what is best for our leather

I go with the theory that modern leather is sealed so u cant really feed it as such so use dr leather with great reaults. I know many believe otherwise.

If you have no scuffs or mis-coloration the use GT12 (Cleaner) and GT11 (Conditioner) for healthy looking leather.

I understood that the leather is actually painted - nothing is going to soak into it to condition it. Just sayin'

I'd be interested to see which one is best for cream colour leather. My driver seat is taking stains from my jeans. So want something which can clean it and then protect it.

He's sort of right. Regular car seat leather (and posher nappa's too) isn't bare dyed leather like nice shoes or a jacket.

Regular Pigmented car leather isn't dyed, it's "sprayed" with the colour coat then a clear impermeable top coat is applied to seal it. So you can't "feed" car seats as they're sealed. All the conditioner does is soften the clear coat and help to stop it cracking and helps stop drying at stitch holes and perforations etc.

So when they are dirty (my light grey merc seats go blue from jeans) it's not on the leather, but on the clear coat. If the leather went blue, you'd never get it out. Thus any gentle cleaner is best for regular cleaning (ph neutral unscented babywipes are brilliant for it, wipes the blue off in one go)

Stuff like gliptone cleaner & conditioner is good, and it smells like leather.

Just don't be be fooled that you're actually feeding or cleaning the leather!

If you have a Rolls Royce or similar with real £££ bare Aniline Leather interior then it's a whole different ball game!
