BMW e90 Wheel and Tire Sizes

In my quest for after market rims and wheels, I've compiled a bunch of information because I was tired of doing the same calculations over and over agian. I hope this helps others here on this site.

OEM 162 rims
Front: 8 x 18 ET34
Rear: 8.5 x 18 ET37
Front Tire Size: 225/40-18 – dimension 25.09
Rear Tire Size: 255/35-18 – dimension 25.03

M5 Replicas
Front: 8 x 18 ET38
Rear: 9 x 18 ET38
Front Tire Size: 225/40-18
Rear Tire Size: 255/35-18
Notes: Fronts will have 4mm LESS clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will RETRACT 4mm. Rears will have 7mm LESS clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 5mm
$696 for rims.


M6 Replicas
Front: 8 x 18 ET38
Rear: 8 x 18 ET38
Front Tire Size: 225/40-18
Rear Tire Size: 225/40-18
Notes: Front will have 4mm LESS clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will RETRACT 4mm. Rears will have 5mm MORE clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will RETRACT 7mm

CSL Reps
Front: 8.5 x 18 ET40
Rear: 9.5 x 18 ET45
Front Tire Size: 225/40-18
Rear Tire Size: 255/35-18

Notes: Front will have 12mm LESS clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will extend to THE SAME point as the stock wheel. Rear will have 21mm LESS clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 5mm.

Front: 8.5 x 19 ET40
Rear: 9.5 x 19 ET45

Front Tire Size: 225/40-19
Rear Tire Size: 255/35-19

Front Tire Size: 235/35-19 – new tire dimension 25.48 Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS
Rear Tire Size: 275/30-19 – new tire dimension 25.5 Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS

Notes: Front will have 12mm LESS clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will extend to THE SAME point as the stock wheel. Rear will have 21mm LESS clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 5mm.

useful.. note however that for the m5/m6 reps. the front will not be the same fit as OEM but rather will be tucked in 4mm more.

So, am I to take from the above that you can run the OEM tires with the CSL staggered reps, even though the CSL rears are an ince wider in the rear? Thanks for the post.

If you go to 'specs' for the OEM tires on tirerack you will see that the fronts have a rim width range from 7.5-9" and the rears have a rim width range from 8.5-10" so OEM tires will fit those rims according to Tire Rack.

And for the other posts that said I 'missed' some wheels, I only ran the calculations for rims I was interested in. I din't think its appropriate to push a certain wheel in this thread. There is an entire other forum section for that. This is about fitment vs oem. Thanks.
