CAS module and keys info needed

Hi guys, do you know if the actual metal key in the keyfob can be cut out based on information gained from CAS module?
Someone tried to steal my car and BMW wants to change the locking system completely. However the insurance engineers think its not necessary to change it completely and that only recoding is needed. So they dont want to approve the work to be carried out.
Cheers

AFAIK, locking system does not need to be changed.
BMW is trying to make money out of it (nothing new).

They have coded the key electronically (if that has been done?).

The metal key code is readable by OBD, yes. Who can cut a key from it I don't know.

Obviously this won't start the car but could provide easy access to it for another attempt if they failed on this occasion.

Although I hate dealers, I believe what they are suggesting is now standard for an attempted theft as in your case.
