Front wheel bearing

I believe the front nearside wheel bearing has been on it's way out for a while and I am thinking of getting it replaced.

Does anyone have any knowledge of how easy this is to replace as a DIY? Am I right in thinking that it's a case that the bearings are bolted into the job rather than pressed in like traditional bearings?

Thanks

The front bearing is located in the hub which is detached by removing 4 bolts. The bearing/hub is a single unit. There has been discussion on here relating to the relative merits of different bearing manufacturers but you should be OK with SKF or F A G

Thanks for the reply.

I take it there is no requirement for a press then and should be a relatively straight forward DIY job?

Is that because of the thread lock used on them?

I thought that mine was on its way out - turns out it was road noise from some old Falken tyres, that disappeared once I changed them.

Could it be that?

worth checking as I've heard about tyres "feathering" the tread blocks which can be noisy
