325d 201bhp auto remap

Can the auto box on the later 325d engine take a big power remap such as the celtic tuning one? From 201bhp to 335bhp and 317lbft to 475lbft.

Mak is the person sto speak to. He was looking at this exact scenario and ended up going for the 330D. I can only presume it's because the gearbox and cooling system are smaller and can take less stress.

After reading that thread, its still not clear if the auto box can take high power.

The 325d will not remap to 335bhp.

The 330d with the N57 maps to around 300-310bhp reliably. All of Celtics figures are around 10% higher than anybody else's and I've never seen a dyno verifying their figures.

From what I've seen of the 325d; it will map to just short of the 330d; around about 290bhp and an equivalent margin on torque to a map'd 330.

It's the real figures that you'd need to be sure the car can handle not inflated numbers designed to catch your eye.

Slight thread revival I know, but above Jim says "the gearbox and cooling system are smaller" in the 325d?

I was under the impression that the LCI 325d and the 330d were identical?

They are - The N57 325d anyway (2011+ I think)

Compare part numbers on Realoem - identical from head to toe bar the map on the ECU, which is irrelevant if mapping anyway.

N57 325d and N57 330d both map to 300-310.

I think the auto box is rated for 600nm, and a map takes it to 620nm ish. You can either ask the tuner to lower the torque slightly, or run the extra 20nm as there is a certain amount of tolerance built into the rated figures anyway

I'm a manual guy all day so the torque rating of the auto box isn't an issue for me (clutch issues probably will be however haha!).

Currently on the lookout for a nice LCI 325d manual...

I was looking to buy a 330d but soon realised you can get a much better spec 325d for a significant amount less. Sure that will be reflected come sale time but I plan to keep mine for a few years so no issue.

The auto box can handle more torque than the clutch & DMF in a manual though

Ah good to know! Makes sense really as the fluid clutch will (to an extent) just deal with it, where as the mechanical clutch in the auto will be holding on for dear life!

The DMF's can also grumble under load in higher gears when they are past their best, it was worse on the E46's, the E90's can handle more

Been quoted 570nm on a pre-lci (m57) 325d manual.
