No, it is far from normal. You should be getting like close to 300 MPG. I suggest you take it back to the dealer, drive it through their showroom's front door and demand a new car.....
Your car has an EPA estimated 17 city/25 highway. You said you haven't been on the freeway a lot, so that means mostly city driving. Sounds like your car is working just fine.

yea my 328i not XI is getting 23, i travel around 15 miles a day for work, and around 6 miles of that is highway so im pretty happy. take your car on a 50 mile trip somewhere using mostly highway and see what happens.
also you might want to reset your MPG calculator because if you havent a lot could be at the dealer or maybe one day you got in a really big traffic jam, when i got my car it was at 9.2 MPG lol and had 25 miles on it. |

The XI is less gas efficient than the normal 3 series. 4 Wheels, less MPG. It's simple really.

24.7 here. I am either doing 70 mph or stopped at one of my 19 traffic lights on the 27 mile trip to work in my '07 328xi. I keep resetting it hoping to get to the 25 mpg mark .... and one day I am going to hit every light green and get it!

With more miles..your MPG should go up. A buddy of mine has an 328xi and he is getting 18.6 mpg.

Wow, this thread is a train wreck. FWIW, 18 mpg is not unusual for the first 700 miles. Wait until it breaks in more. Mileage should go up some.

I just recently picked up my car and my first tank was around 18.5 <alot of idling and me playing with the electronics>.. second tank i got 19.8 mpg.. Now I am on my third one and it is around 18 right now after 50 miles of driving.
You might want to consider resetting your Avg Speed and MPG on the computer everytime you fill it up and you'll see how the AVG speed directly influences what you'll get with your MPG. I think on my first tank my AVG speed was 28.0 mph and my second tank was around 30 mph. If you are getting around 30 mph for avg speed then you should see close to 20 mpg. I hope this makes sense. |
