Has anyone lost the roundel from thier key??

The BMW roundel on the lock button of the key has fallen off both my keys!

I can understand if one fell of and stock it up to crap luck... But this is ridiculious.

The dealers response was suggesting I order an new key for +++$$$

I literally told him to kiss my @$$ before he was finished suggesting such a dumbass thing.

Any idea where I can get those little roundels to glue back on?

Cheers,

B.

You could print a tiny one out on paper and glue it back on. I think that would look way better than stock.

same here. but I lied and told them that the key is acting up sometimes and refuses to response. they agreed to replace it with a new one. too bad they said I have to return the old key.

This is 1 time that I feel good to scam the dealer

The key is part of your car, ergo it's covered under warranty. You literally can not operate your car without the key so you could argue it is one of the most important components of the car.

This is obviously a cosmetic issue, but that doesn't mean it's not covered under warranty. As long as you didn't neglect or mistreat your key (which is hard for them to prove anyway) they must either fix or replace it.

Just stick to your guns and make a big stink about it until they take care of you.

My dealer replaced my key with no question since it's covered by warranty. I lost the roundel last year.

My dealer is replacing mine this weekend actually. Hopefully the roundel stays on better with the new key.

My wife lost her sticker or emblem off of her key fob within a few weeks of owning the car. When I asked the dealer if he could swap it out for a new one he just laughed and told me "they cost like $300"!

Funny how many stories we've had of this. BMW should start selling little roundels with adhesive backing. Then we could do it ourselves and not have to go to the dealer. There could be an aftermarket for little CF roundels, colored roundels, etc.

Tell these aholes to blow you The emblem is part of the key and absolutely should be replaced under warranty. If they refuse to do it, just contact BMWNA and have them contact your dealer on your behalf.

I am with you guys. I just got my CPO 325 and BOTH my keys are missing the roundels. I've been looking for stickers to replace but no luck. I'll try to hound my friends at the dealership.

Oh yea they have to warranty those keys. No questions asked.
I get them all the time. BMW never says anything or asks any questions. Just that we return the fob back to them to recycle.

I just had the second one replace under warranty. If you have CA make sure to take both fobs with you the day they have the new one.

Leave it off. That way if you loose the key, the finder probably won't know it is from a BMW and is less likely to use it to steal your car.
