335d Lambda Sensor

Hi guys, Quick question after experience with BMW lack of EML after losing both pressure converters and having no codes come up on my old mans 335d

Ive now got an MPG issue on mine, Ive been recently averaging 15-19mpg turned out my thermostats had gone so changed them, all good MPG crept back up to a good healthy 23-24 which is good to what it was but taking it for a long 100 mile drove today all on the M1 at a steady 60 mph i only averaged 35mpg where i used to average 47 on that run i realised maybe its not all good back to normal i still have an issue.

What are the odds that the lambda sensor has failed but not given a EML or error code on the ECU?

When my 02 sensor was failing my mpg dropped quite a bit. Best to scan car for codes as I did have a specific error code relating to it.

It is diy just need the sensor removal tool which is £6 from eBay and penatrative fluid.

Brand new is quite expenaive from.BMW iirc £170 I managed to get a second hand one for £40 off a car that done 30k

have you got access to bmw code reader?
I cant remember the code off the top off my head, i was in the same position as I did not want tobuy a new sensor and it turned out to be wiring (although the code did point to the sensor) so I opted to buy a second hand with the intention of buying a new one if it cleared the code - it did but i managed to find a good second hand one so left it at that

I can probs get it to BMW to be looked at, its just frustrating that even specific BMW readers £600 + wont pick up anything or no emission light on the dash like ive had on all my cars with lambda issues.

I might try look for a 2nd hand sensor whip it off 1 night when its dry

@Dan- did you ever find out if the sensor was contributing to poor MPG after replacing?
