Calling all 328I and 325I made in S.Africa!!! HELP!
Ok so, ive found somthing out, in my 328i which was made in the rosslyn plant in south africa, the gap between the fender and the hood on both sides is significantly wider than that of a Munich made car.
I have gotten a 328XI(munich made) and just today, i got a 335XI also munich made and the gap between the hood and the fender is very small.... So im wondering if you other S.African made or german made cars have a super wide gap between the fender and the hood....is there a way to fix that??? the difference between the two is outrageous. |

the gap is an example of an engineering tolerance, and i feel that this can vary even within the same plant (i.e. car to car) because you will have variations in any production process. you would need quite a few data samples from each plant before you could point to a trend. I believe that my car was built in regensburg, and the gap btwn the hood and the fender is much larger (about 15MM i think) than my old honda prelude AND toyota corolla.

Rosslyn has a superb record. Don't start stupid myths -- viz your thread title.

"significant" is a pretty hefty word, in science, in order for a set of data to be 'significantly' different than another set of data, a set of rigorous statistical analysis has to be performed, i.e. have an appropriate sample size, test for homogeneity of the sample population + choosing an appropriate stats test, before a significance level can be determined.
