I'm going to flash this to my MY2014 and see if I get some of the new '15 features (mainly the steering adjustments for sport/sport+)
If anybody has any questions as to specific module firmware levels, let me know.

Cheers!

Where are you getting this information from and is this something we can do ourselves? I'd really love for my car to not throw me back into Comfort throttle mapping when I hold DSC OFF with Sport+ activated.

You need E-SYS and some knowledge of BMW systems to program cars yourself.
Safer way is with an ICOM-A2 and ISTA/P, but thats also much more expensive and harder to get running.

Do you know if the bug you are talking about is a known issue?
I'll try to look it up and see if there is a SIB.

That's the thing, I'm not sure it is a bug. It's been heavily documented in other threads on these forums.

What steering adjustments between sport/sport+ are you trying to get?

I have E-SYS. Where are you getting the flash data from?

you would need a good charger for the car as it will take a few hours and if the power drops you are screwed...

I would not flash it..... this is far beyond changing settings with coding...

I flash all the time :-)
You do need ISTA/D to complete the Airbag reset which happens when that module goes into flashing mode.
But I also have ISTA/P and an ICOM if I get really messed up.

Any way to find out the current integration level without E-SYS or ISTA/P? Not interested in flashing to the current level, just curious to see what I have.

Also, does having the latest I-level (mine was just updated by dealer a few days ago) mean I have to get new PSDZData for coding and what not?

Can you ask the dealer to update to the latest I-level during a routine maintenance / service visit?

It turns out my MY2015 came with 14-7-503 and the dealer said they updated to the latest on Thursday but it looks like the latest they had as of Thursday (and what got loaded on my car) was 14-7-505.

Usually no, they need to document something wrong that is related to a needed update.
You could say something like...your phone keeps disconnecting from Bluetooth or something like that...and hope they just flash it.
As for the version, its up to the dealers to update their systems.

Anyone know what the correct way a dealer would upgrade the I-Level, would they be using E-SYS or would they use ISTA/P ?

Dealers do not have E-SYS, its more of a factory tool.
Dealers use ISTA/P
BMW rarely does release notes. A SIB can have a fix with an I-level, thats kinda as close as it gets for figuring out whats new.

So is using ISTA/P a safer way of doing a complete I-Level upgrade?

What is a SIB and where can you find out about which ones are in a release level ?

A complete I-Level Upgrade is a big risk, but if there's some actual gain from it then it's less of an issue. Just trying to see if we can find any differences in the latest F22 ilevel.

I guess ISTA/P is a safer way to do it, as its meant for techs to easily do this task on a repeatable basis.
However E-SYS in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing is perfectly safe.

A SIB is a Service Information Bulletin. This is how BMW documents issues and fixes to dealerships. They arent usually public unless you have access to a BMW system that publishes them. (ISTA/D, OSS)

Upgrading your I-Level isn't risky...its just a time consuming process. So dealers only do it if its fixing an issue you are experiencing.

Lol the risk is if you f*ck up an ECU, you brick that ECU, potentially the car stuck in transport mode, and get stuck with the dealer fixing it .. ? Also if your battery dies mid-stream programming I have a 50 amp charger, but I've heard others say 70 amp minimum.

I have ISTA/D aka Rheingold 3.44.50, it's very handy for how to stuff, and wiring diagrams so far. I'll have to search and see if I can find any SIT documents..

Do you know the procedure using ISTA/P for upgrading I-Levels.

I'm just becoming familar with E-SYS and will attempt some of the basic coding tasks this weekend.

Even if that happens, its easy to recover. Like I said, you just need to know what you are doing. Let me know if you need any help with procedures with E-SYS.

I'd be interested in learning more about this. I haven't found much documented online on how to do this. I'm assuming you need the FULL PSDZData and not just the 'lite' version?

Also what hardware would you recommend having? A separate battery charger, special cables, etc?

I'd be interested in learning more about this with E-SYS. I have a proper cable for e-sys, but I don't have a charger larger than 50 amp.

I'd love to learn more about the recovery procedure as well.
