Should I buy a cat-less downpipe?

I am looking for a tiny boost in power. I want to get a cat less downpipe for the time being. A tune is in order but I want to wait until more options are available. My question you all is as follows:

What are the Cons of going with a cat less downpipe?

Will it cause a C.e.l?

If so, anyway to clear it without being forced to buy a tune? Will the smell of exhaust fumes be more noticeable?

Anything else I should be aware of?

Significant power boost.

Yes, it will cause a CEL and the smell of fumes will be considerably more noticeable.

You're hurting the environment and it's illegal to alter your emissions equipment.

So, in short.

Yes, do it.

You will need to use JB4 Stage 2 in order to clear the CEL. I don't think there is any other way for now for the F series chassis.
Doing catless is fine for the environment as you are only contributing about 0.001% to the pollution in this world. Also, keep in mind, that by having a cat in the car, that doesn't mean that your car is pollution free.

For more power buy catless.
I would start with a JB4 though, not sure what you are waiting for since all the other companies either released their products or stopped working on one (Cobb).

I have sport cat DP and it doesn't give away too much in terms power/torque gains to decat.

No cel no fumes and sounds nicer, less raspy.

i agree !! I have tested both and TBH the 200cel sports cat feels better the the decat !! the factory ECU was designed to see a cat and until a flash tune is available its not worth it !!

I took advantage of the holiday yesterday and got my DP installed. It was a bit of a PITA to get the OEM off and the install took a good hr with a lift and proper tools, I would not want to do this on jack stands.

Is it worth it, so far so good, I am still running map 1 and will stay on map 1 through the remainder of the week. Noticable power gains, Throttle improved, minor smells, minor sound difference to me. Interestingly I have not thrown a cel yet.

The JB4 was the biggest most noticeable gain. The DP is noticable but 50% of what I felt from the JB4. Map 2 should be the icing on the cake.

It was worth it Today for me but I might be singing a different tune when I got to put everything back to stock in a year for maintenance. Now if map 2 does what I think it will do will solidfy it being worth it.

The JB4 will clear all cel's.. so you'll never see it.

Thanks, I was expecting to have hook up my laptop and launch the jb4 app and toggle a setting.

Very lucky a buddy from my mustang club has a diesel auto repair shop with a nice contract to service a fleet of trucks and has quite a bit of spare time. Has all the tools and can turn a wrench, 10 mins from my house. I do make it worth his while and gave him $50 for the extra hands, tools and use. Definetly a win win.

I finaly got some decent seat time with the DP and YES IT IS WORTH IT. Comfort mode felt like sports mode and sports mode is a whole nother level. ECO is still ECO and sluggish. I'm still on map 1 and am very very pleased with the results. Map 2 is going to be insane.
