Incredible paint correction job on an '08 M3
Reposting from another forum I'm on, but thought I'd share with you guys. My buddy wrapped his 2013 M3 to prevent any paint defects/dealer wash scratches and such. For those out there who didn't/have sustained defects like this...there's still hope!
http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/fo...d.php?t=422398 A few sample pics from the thread (way too many to post them all here): Note: I'm in no way affiliated with Immaculate Reflections or Jeff, just a fan of his work and thought I'd share some minor car porn with you guys |

Don't they wear down the clear coat when they do that?

Yes but it a very minute amount. For a car with normal clear coat thickness, you could polish the car many times without any issue.

He's got some other pics with a measurement tool to check paint thickness in each spot and whatnot before he does anything to it. Extremely meticulous and dedicated work.

These pictures, and those like them, are pretty normal nowadays.
A car with a very nice paint job underneath sees multiple years of machine washes or abrasive use and no polishing or similar re-infusing of the clearcoat with shiny agents. It doesn't look good in sunlight, but you put it under halogens and it looks terrible. If you simply wash it and wax it, it'll regain the shine and fill in alot of those swirls. If you wash it, do a light one stage polish, and seal/wax it, it'll do 90% of that. If you put ~6-8 hours into it, including probably 3 levels of polishing, it'll do that. I'm not putting down the detailer at all - great work and beautiful improvement to the paint. I'm just trying to put this transformations into context. A DIY at home with a $140 random orbital and a good single-stage polish and an orange pad can achieve at least 80% of these results in 3-4 hours. I know, as I have a 103k mile 535xit that was delivered to me at 83k miles with all the clearcoat scratches filled in with a filling agent - a few months later it looked like that. Now it has about 10% of those scratches still in the clearcoat but has the shine achieved too |
