New S55 60-130 World Record: 8.1s

I thought you guys might find this interesting. Solid results for an M3 running tune only.

Quote:
Was able to get out to a private track today for a couple 60-130 runs. Best of the two was 8.1s 60-130 on less than a 1% slope. Fairly impressive considering the lack of mods, but a good bit slower than our test M5, which ran 7.4s on the same slope tune only. Still happy with the result. Weather in the 60s. With more slope and colder weather 7.8s should be no problem.

I don't understand 60-130 runs all that well. Can you floor it from a dead stop and run it through or should you be moving in gear? It seems like all of that would affect time greatly.

You need a full head of steam by 60mph so you normally start at 40-50mph. Then accelerate up to 130mph. Then the VBOX spits out the result and slope. It has to be under 3% slope to be official but some circles require a slope of less than 1%.

Yes..

To get in the 6s at 3750# on less than a 1% slope will probably require north of 600whp. Beyond what the factory turbos will deliver. I can see low 7s on a 2.9% slope being possible though.

Looks to be ~25psi.

Can't wait to see what upgraded turbos can pump out.

Perhaps I can borrow it here sometime soon, if you're willing. I will still be there Saturday! I am sitting at the airport in Arkansas on the way back to San Diego as we speak. What a week.

Pretty cool. Does the website have a box to enter weight to get that approx horsepower line?

What! What mods did you have? What WHP were you making? Sub 7 seconds is insanely fast for an M3.... that's McLaren MP4-12C and GT-R level times. You must have been supercharged with other mods...

elevation plays a huge role. On a 2.99 decline I ran a 10.x, same mods I went 12.x on a .01% decline. When comparing 60-130 numbers elevation is the most important variable.

First E92 M3 broke into 5 sec territory last week. Granted it has an SC and built engine. But none the less, that is very quick.

A single turbo 135i did it over half a year ago. Oh, and the AMS GTR just did it in 2.46 seconds lol.
