Broke my JBD...

Well, the connector, anyway.

I was taking my car in for service this morning, so I took the JBD off as a precaution. Quick and easy, loosen the screws on the engine cover, lift it up, disconnect the cables and plug the factory back in, tighten the screws, close the hood, CRUNCH! I had forgotten to actually take the JBD OUT of the engine bay, and smashed the female connector.

I've got an email in to Jon at burger to see what my options are, but does anybody know how to take these AMP connectors apart? I would imagine I could get a replacement pretty cheaply, just can't figure out how to get the terminals out of this one. Most instructions I find online are for round terminals, and these are square.

Post a pic of the front of the connector. Ive dealt with these before. I think if you used something like a needle you could pull up on a tab of the terminal and slide it out of the connector. There might also be a terminal release tool but typically they are plastic and cheap.

So this is not a true amp connector, its a cheap chinese knock off from alibaba. Try an amp terminal release tool. You should be able to buy a replacement connector on ebay.

Very interesting. The Male connector is very clearly marked with the AMP logo and part number, but the Female one has no such markings.

At any rate, Jon from Burger got back to me yesterday afternoon, and said if I mail the unit in, they'll replace the connector for free. Thanks for the assist though!

The jbd I have has no markings on the connectors. You must have a newer version.
