No inventory, can't sell them if you don't build them.

Good for us. Higher resale value, even for those who leased. You might be able to sell it for more than its buyout.

Sorry, having trouble understanding the numbers. So what were the total 2014 production numbers for the 2 series? M235i, 228i?

And is this for the US only? Or everywhere?
I was always curious how many m235s were sold in the US for 2014 + 2015 and if possible further broken down by state. As it is, I still have yet to see a single m235 out in the wild yet (in CT) outside of the one I test drove prior to ordering mine. Now that I think of it, I've never seen a single 2 series period in CT outside of the dealership lot. |

I have yet to see another one on Cape Cod or in Massachusetts anywhere. Dealer on Cape Cod only sold 2 or 3 including mine. They now have the AWD which they think will sell better. I thought the 2 would sell much better than the 1 but not so far. I think 2 dr only is also part of the problem.

If you want to do a quick comparison, check out your local Audi and BMW dealer websites and compare inventory between the 228i/M235i vs A3/S3. In Orlando we have two of each.
A3/S3- 51 228i/M235i- 2 That is a ridiculous difference, especially considering Audi is notorious for keeping low inventory.

I prefer to see low numbers of M235i personally - good for resale and good for being rare on the roads I would hate to own such a great machine and feel like its a fleet vehicle because it is everywhere.

Individual model sales are usually not released and best I could find with detail is by style (coupe, sedan, etc.) and no 2014 figures yet.

Easiest way to check inventory is Autotrader.com. It shows the national inventory for all new 2 series whether they are in stock or on order for sale by dealers. In other words they may not have the inventory yet. The other day there was about 115 M235 available in the entire US in over 360 dealers. My dealer hasn't had a 2 series in 6-8 weeks.

If something is a poor seller on the new car market why do you think it will bring a premium when used?
Rare because its exclusive, Ferrari etc, is one thing rare because it dld not sell is something else.

I've seen 6 or 7 228i's and 1 M235i. Dealers get very few which are either sold orders or sell within a few days. BMW just isn't producing enough 2 series for the demand. I ordered mine last month and delivery is November, the dealership didn't have any allocations until October, other dealers didn't have any, don't know about the 228i.
