Pic of my 2009 E92 335xi, ideas?
Hey everyone,
Here is a pic of my 2009 E92 335xi it's an Automatic. I have installed Lux Angel Eyes as well as a dual filter Injen Intake and 35% tint in front and 20% in the rear. I don't want to make it too sporty. I want to do a couple more things to it. Should I get a black grill or leave it how it is? Any other recommendations. I also live in MN so there are bad winters here. Future Mods: JB4 VMR 18" Rims Anything else? Blow off valve? I want to increase the sound quality when I take off. Anything I can do to make the sound a bit deeper without an exhaust? |

Do down pipes increase sound quality and hp? not sure what they are used for. I was told to get a JB4 with a Charge Pipe

DP will decrease spool time for the turbos, and will slightly alter the induction/exhaust sound. Be careful though, many DP (even some catted) can cause SES light. A charge pipe is more of preventative upgrade, but a much needed in my opinion

So instead of a DP I should get a CP? Especially if I plan on getting the JB4. Is that correct? I want a deeper sound to my stock exhaust.

I don't think a charge pipe will change your exhaust note, but it is recommended for a jb4 because you will be running more boost with the tune. Catless downpipes will change the sound of your exhaust and increase horsepower.

I'm just trying to understand if I get DP's do I still need to get CP for the JB4 or does the DP take care of that situation?

The downpipes does not take care of the chargepipe situation. The chargepipe isn't necessarily needed but is recommended. There are people running the jb4 on a stock chargepipe with no problems.

It's your car, OP. Look at it and then think, "what would make this car look better to me?"
Personally, I don't like all black grills on a black car. It makes it look like a black blurb. You want to see some of the car's lines and definition. I would get grills that have a chrome outline and black slats. I would also black out the mesh under the grills and by the fog lights. I have an '09 xi (or x-drive) as well and the biggest crime on the car is the wheels and suspension. It's got such a bad stance. |

Thinking about getting gunmetal v710's on there soon. What would you recommend for the suspension? Can I just paint the lower grills black? Do I plasty dip them?

Wheels alone won't do it, you need a drop. Dinan has a nice setup that's not too aggressive, but it's expensive ($1k just for parts):
http://dinancars.com/product/d190-90...ries&mid=1012/ I don't know what are good alternatives (I haven't looked in a long time) but I think people generally like KWs. I don't really know much about suspensions, so I can't give any more opinions. For the lower drills, I've heard of people doing both. Search the DIY section, I think there are some posts for that. |

If you change the grills you'll have to paint/switch the lower grills too to match. Just something to keep in mind. I switched my kidney grills and didn't realize how strange it'd look until I painted the lowers black to match. I used gloss black spray paint and clear and it's held up well, but plastidip may as well. Personally I don't love black grills on black cars, needs the contrast.
Wheels and drop would definitely look good too. I also don't want TOO sporty of a look but I've been looking into coilovers. M3 lip spoiler for the back would also be good. |

I think you need to do some research on the actual parts you are looking at getting. Not just looking at what everyone puts on their car. Find the reason WHY you need these parts. Understand the function of the part, and enjoy what benefits your driving style.

I have a black 2010 e92xi...
The reverse rake just KILLS the look of the car. I'd get a nice set of coils, I went with KW V1s I know a lot of people recommend a chargepipe with a tune, i didn't have a single issue with my stock CP, and I ran 20pounds of boost on it. I personally like the "blacked out" look although it seems like everyone does it. I do like your idea of gunmetal rims. Black wheels get "lost" in pictures, in person though they look great |

I would recommend upgrading the charge pipe.
It's a weak point and when it blows you get no power. I've blown my charge pipe once while stock and once while tuned. Especially if you're out of warranty, an aftermarket metal one costs just a bit more and is worth it. Easy install. Did one myself over the weekend.

OP-As stated multiple times I highly recommend getting an aftermarket CP as my OEM on my last e92 335i blew a hole due to running the JB4 G5 ISO creating more PSI
