Leather Dashboard?
Hi all,
I am currently looking to trade my 09 X3 for a 435i XDrive M Sport. I was curious about your opinions on the Leather Dashboard. Is it worth the extra $1200 and does it make the interior that much better or should I save my cash and invest in another option? I'd also appreciate your opinion on options that aren't necessary. I would also appreciate your opinions on unnecessary options for the 4 Series. I am looking for a pretty fully loaded model but I would appreciate what you all think are un necessary options. Cash isn't a bother but still wouldn't want to waste it on something I won't use or like. Thanks, F10Enthusiast. |

Money no option?. Must be nice. I paid $900 for the leather dashboard, are you sure it is $1200?. I think it is a great upgrade. I bypassed the cold weather package and just got the heated seats. I also don't think LED headlights are worth the money as an upgrade over Xenon's however they do look great.

I recently bought a 6 series that happened to come with the full leather package and I absolutely love it. When I found out that 2015 4-series have the available option for the leather dash I was extremely excited. I think it really boosts the quality/high-end feel of the interior (especially for $900) and I will definitely be adding it to my F33 order.

If it had contrast stitching it would look sharp. But as-is, it's just more detail work with little pizzaz for the $ IMHO. Only reason I see to get it is if you wanted coral red interior and really didn't like the red lower dash. I like the red lower dash myself, but I can see why some may need to tone it down a notch.

My understanding is full leather option(like the ones in M3/M4) covers the dash as well as top part of the door panels, while leather dash only covers the dash.

For me this was a must as I just feel for the price the 3/4 series sits in now the interior is the rear let down.
Here are some pics of my dash I would stress this is the individual version which I think is a different leather. This did add leather to the tops of the doors as well which is a nice bonus. That looks stunning. If I could, I would have definitely gone for the leather dash option.
I think the only thing that the M3/M4 have over Langlord's car is leather on the handles (that you use to pull the door close). |

The bmwusa pictures don't seem to show the same(leather at top of door) for US-spec 3/4-series with leather dash(as compared to U-spec M3/M4 with full Merino), local CAs are somewhat clueless, hopefully there will be units with that option on local dealer's lots to confirm. |

Why couldn't they keep the same color stitching. Now, on the M cars, add a blue and a red thread on the steering wheel and you have 4 different colors of stitching. Not good in my book. Our leather included the glove box door too but not the top of the doors. |

I agree on me getting the whole interior colour match totally wrong. Luckly by going the complete individual option I only have black or cashmere stitching/piping and leather.
The fact you can spec a car with four different coloursismadness in my eyes. |

The leather dash wasn't an option online when I put my vehicle together...of course, I wasn't advised of this option when I went to the dealer to place the order. So, my 2015 335i won't have this. Wish I would have known about it...

Not only is the leather dashboard option removed but it looks like the starting MSRP price for a 2015 435 xDrive coupe is $100.00 less to $48,000.00. My 435 was supposed to be scheduled for production on August 5th but was delayed until week 36 which is this week for unknown reasons. I guess this is the reason as I ordered the leather dashboard. Honestly a 3 series based coupe that has such a high commanding price should have this standard.

I don't know if they ever fixed it but the configurator was showing the bottom part of the dash in leather but the top was regular plastic. Maybe they pulled it to fix that issue.
Between this and the fog lights appearing on M Sport cars without any explanation from BMW, the 2015 rollout so far has been very sloppy.
