Word. Would own a x35 without it.

100%. Even better with the 8 speed (I had on my e90). Best way to describe it is like driving in sport mode. It's not crazy, but still noticeable.
Must have IMO.

So you're sayng if i make a conscious effort every time i turn on my non-MPPK 335i, and put it in sport mode ... I can save myself the $1000 and the trip to the dealer? Serious minds inquire. |

The part you're missing is how sport feels with mppk. And throttle response. And the overdrive boost. But sure, save your money. But by that line of reasoning get a 328

Congrats and I'm glad you're happy but when you get down to the numbers, the MPPK is a very modest bump in power that the majority of owners have admitted wasn't making a difference in the power department. Maybe the feel and the sound but not the power.

Well. I had it with my e90 (perf edition) and could notice a difference without it (e.g., turbo lag), hence I was more inclined. But of course that's why we all mod etc. based on personal preferences (or buy what we buy). Worth it for me.

If I get ZERO power increase, but a sharper throttle and improved driving dynamics across the modes ... it would be more than worth my money. A power bump would just be icing for me.

Do you have a post 2013 F3X? After getting the MPPK on my 435i, acceleration has definitely improved (not just better throttle response and burble sounds).

I not only would be pissed, I would get my money back. Fck paying $1600 (after tax) for MPPK and not feeling anything. Luckily I noticed a significant enough improvement.. I'm happy, but would still like 50 more HP

My version was for a claimed 20 horse, 17 torque increase. I didn't expect to be blown away by the power increase. I posted my before/after dyno graph in another thread if you're curious.

I remember that thread. Did you ever take it back to the dealer? If so what did they say?

Yes. I updated the thread a couple days ago. Basically, the dealer confirmed the mppk was installed and submitted my concern to BMW. BMW offered to remove the kit and refund the purchase price. I went back to the dyno to see if anything changed and the car was no longer losing power and instead made about 7 horse/torque.

Have the 35 horse version + the MPE. In Canada they advertise the complete package ar 342 brake horsepower. Since BMW plays games with its ratings have no idea what it really is till an actual dyno run.
I hate butt dynos but the feels a lot like my old 335is. The JB4 is more cost effective & would recommend it or cobb, best yet JB4+COBB like my 335is if more power is required. The MPPK+MPE is a better than pure stock boost, no pun in tended, with a nice sound that should outrun a pure stock car. Will do some runs after break-in. Lots of spread on the price, had mine installed at the port for $950 with no instillation charge. Got the MPE for $870, no shipping or tax & self installed. Not really cost effective but a nothing to do package that performs reasonably well. The Cobra will fill in as the "Need for Speed" car replacing the 335is

I had the MPPK and MPE installed at the first service interval about a month ago. I noticed an immediate difference in throttle response, especially in Sport mode. It is most apparent at highway speeds. For example, a gentle push on the throttle (at 70mph) used to result in a 5-10 mph increase. Now a tap will do the same, and a gentle push will result in 15-20 mph. It is subtle but it is definitely there. At full throttle acceleration up through the gears, the hp now reads around 325-330 on the sport displays. A dyno would tell the real story but I'm not inclined to go there. The exhaust burbles are definitely very pronounced as well, in part I'm sure b/c of the MPE.
On the MPE, with the windows up it is not a big difference vs. stock. Windows down, a whole different story. I was less than thrilled about that until by chance, I happened to be driving on a road that skirts the end of an airport runway at the same time a 737 flew overhead just a few hundred feet above the car. I was amazed how quiet it was. I realized then that the insulation of the car is probably responsible for damping the exhaust sound more than anything. Gotta say that overall I'm very satisfied with the purchase. The MPPK and MPE did about what I expected and my warranty is intact. |
