Code 4C04

Am taking my car in for service on Friday. Needs oil change (according to CBS), and probably rear pads.

Just for kicks I thought I would check to see if I have any codes stored. Have one code 4C04. From searching in this forum it appears that code has something to do with Exhaust Gas Temp. Have no lights, just a warning that I am about 1,000 miles overdue for an oil change. Performance seems OK as does mileage.

Normally I would clear the code, but I think I will leave it sitting there and see if the dealer even notices it.

Am now just a few miles under 40k.

This is in one of the files I sent you! D73N57....pdf

EDIT - Its saying your EGT temp is too high (non-plausible) therefore likely bad sensor.

Gosh, now I have to find the file. I looked before I posted, but must have missed it.

On the other hand, maybe it's because I was going 120 mph in the high desert on a hot day yesterday.

Only 120?? Way back when I took my buddy for a hell ride I just held the skinny pedal to the floor. She pulled something fierce well over 120 and never seemed to slow down. Insane. Meanwhile my buddy was as white as a ghost with a death grip on the door handle. So I lifted.

Well...
1. It was a bit windy.
2. The road was not runway quality.
3. I already had one speeding ticket on this trip.
4. I am becoming more of a wienie as I ease into the golden years.

Having said that, I really wanted to test the base model limiter. And it does keep pulling.

Just joking in jest. I agree with ya, over the last 5 or so years I've become quite tame. Getting older, having a son, and realizing there is more to life than taking foolish or costly risks.
