Disabling/Deleting SCR system

So it seems those of us with drained urea tanks are getting codes. Also, some have heard their SCR pumps running. I have gotten in touch with Ecotune about totally disabling all SCR pumps and heaters which is doable.

My first question is where is the crankcase breather heater? I ask because it seems one fuse controls the SCR pumps yet it may also control this heater as well. I need to rule that out. Once I can locate which fuses will disable the SCR then we can make some progress.

AFAIK, there is no "crankcase" heater. Do you mean the fuel heater? In the fuel filter assembly...

Gotcha - the infamous PCV/CCV valve heater.

its on the CCV hose, right by the air cleaner. Check the CCV breather/filter threads, some pictures of it there

might be quicker to actually go look. It would be clear with the engine cover off. The CCV runs from the rear of the valve cover to the intake hose just after the MAF sensor. The heater is in the hose just before it connects to the intake

IA, the heated rubber tube is about 4" long and runs downward from hard plastic tube into what I call "the shoe". The shoe is a plastic piece that is a Y intersection of incoming filtered air and the CCV inlet. The shoe plugs directly into the turbo.

Ask me why i know. When reassembling after DPF delete, i dropped the little clip right down the throat of the shoe. I about crapped my pants! I carefully removed the shoe and there was the clip laying on the lip of the turbo just before the compressor wheel. Wheeeeeeeeeuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuw.

Said clip is what completes the circuit of the heater. Be careful one and all. I got lucky.

I'm pretty sure that Jarold guy at JRAutomotive in Canada has all of this already figured out.. I would shoot him an email or give him a call..

Nice one TDI. The bottom photo with right side arrow is pointing to the short ribbed hose with heater.

Just to add. The heater is in the bottom part of that little CCV pipe. There is a separate electrical connector on that bottom part. The top ones on that pipe is to make sure it is connected. If you remove that little pipe, which is hard. You need to remove the whole filtered pipe to turbo inlet. But if you remove it, at the inside of it you will see a copper ring that is part of the heater.

I would also think that that heater may not always be on and be ambient temperature dependent.

Got it. I need to find out why I'm going into limp mode.....but then I will trace one of those heater terminals to the fuse box and rule out that fuse. I am hoping the SCR pumps are on the other fuse so that heater will stay functional.

Ok guys, the only other thing that may be on that SCR circuit according to the schematic is a "switchover valve". Anyone have a clue what that is? Not a changeover valve but a switchover valve.....

Can you see where that valve is positioned?

Any chance that's referring to the "Reversing valve"?

No location information on the schematic unfortunately

Pulled fuses 4 and 5 near the DDE today, these control a lot of SCR stuff but unfortunately they control other stuff as well, like the crankcase breather heater, etc....I also got a code for a turbo boost valve out of range, that may be the switchover valve, not sure. In any case this method won't work.

I do have my SCR heaters disabled without an issue though (other than a few codes), these 2 fuses are behind the glovebox.

So next step is to start pulling connectors at the SCR delivery and transfer units. Looks like one at the transfer unit and 2 at the delivery unit. Stan says he can update this once I get him the codes....
