It's also different if you have adaptive suspension, you can configure SPORT to be chassis only, drivetrain only, or both. SPORT+ is always both.

It seems to me that Sport+ on my 435 (with PPK) has a more linear response on the throttle map.. not sure about the rest of the handling, but I can tell which mode it is in - they are a bit different.

On my '14 328i the steering gets tighter again as compared to sport. The throttle mapping seems different, gear shifts hold longer and traction is off as well...

And funnily enough, the car seems more predictable overall in Sport+, even with the DSC off.

Some say this is true (the steering). I disagree and BMW only claims that Sport + defeats traction control. I cannot tell a difference in the steering.

I could be wrong but I was under the impression that Sport+ decreases the the traction nanny a bit and returns the throttle mapping to comfort mode.

Not sure, but I do drive mine in Sport + verses Sport for whatever virtual reality it sets up in my feeble head, it feels different .. placebo or not..

You have a 435.. just try it in all modes all week and make your own call to clear up your confusion. No one else matters.

There's a chart floating around in an old post that has all the definitive information. Also page 106 of the owner's manual.

Basically sport+ gives you sport chassis settings (if you have DHP), sport steering, DSC off, sport shifting (for autos) and comfort throttle. A BMW engineer said in an interview that the linear comfort throttle setting is better for track work due to predictability and easier fine-grained adjustments.

DSC off in Sport+ program??? Absolutely not: DSC is put in off only in DSC OFF program.
Moreover, DHP settings are exactly the same in Sport and Sport+, as well as throttle response, steering and shifting speed
Sport and Sport+ are different only for the activation of DTC in the latter program.
If you have 8AT, there is another important difference: in M it holds the gear at rev-limiter and it doesn't do any automatic kickdown (as well as in DSC Off and Traction program, always in M mode)

That's exactly as I thought as well. I don't believe the throttle response is set to comfort in Sport+? I think people are confusing the ///M models like the new M3/M4 which is usually put in comfort throttle mode but sport+ chassis to initiate launch control.

Unless you initiate Launch Control, in which case even if you're in Manual paddle shift "M" mode and launch, I think it still shifts for you at redline?

No, with SAT (Sport Automatic Transmission), if you are in Sport+, DSC Off or Traction program and M mode, it will never shift for you at the redline.
If you want to activate LC procedure, you cannot be in M mode, but only in S with Sport+ or Traction program: in that case, of course, it will shift for you at redline

PS throttle response is set back to "confort" only in DSC Off program, in wich all the other parameters (shift speed, steering and dumpers) are set in "sports"

Quoting the owner's manual below. Maybe you have a more authoritative source.

SPORT+
Consistently sporty control of the shock absorbers
for greater driving agility when driving with
limited driving stabilization.

Activating SPORT+
Press the button repeatedly until SPORT+ appears
in the instrument cluster and the DSC OFF
indicator lamp lights up.

Found that chart I was thinking of. I admit to being thoroughly confused about the whole DSC OFF thing, as the chart seems to imply that DSC OFF is separate from Sport+, but the manual says the DSC OFF light comes on when you engage Sport+.

The chart was posted by DVC in this thread: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1011676

Sport+ and shifter in DS, that's the way to go. Don't see much purpose for Sport unless the road is very slippery.

Looks like I was confusing some features of Sport+ and DSC off as well.

Looks like Sport+ IS the way to go (even if it does have DTC enabled) and I'll start using it now. Before I only ever used Sport since I didn't fully understand Sport+, this chart is great. I also thought that Sport+ disabled/reduced DSC and that is why DTC was active but I guess not.

DSC-off mode sure looks strange--some features form sport/sport+ and others from comfort.

I feel that DSC off is meant for the track. I don't know about you guys, but having a twitchy throttle is not desirable for me on the track. It puts everything else into sport mode though.
