why pay extra $1k for Tech pkg...?
input please.
looks like only significant advantage to Tech pkg is the HUD for extra $1k over the Nav stand alone option. anyone tried them both? very close to closing a deal on a '14 335xi Msport tia

Tech gets you the HUD and extended functionality with smartphones. But ask anyone with the HUD (me included) if it's worth it and 99.9% will say "YES!". Going in, I didn't plan on getting Tech either and didn't think much about the HUD. I ended up getting it on an already configured car.
But it really is great to get turn directions on your windshield as well as list items from the main screen, like contacts, song titles, sat channels etc. |

I basically agree with everyone else. At first I thought the HUD was crap I didn't need, but after the test drive, I fell in love with it.
I just order my car last Monday with Technology Package. If I recall correctly, "Extended Functionality with smartphones" got moved to a standalone option in 2015MY didn't it? To the "Enhanced bluetooth...."? It let's you have two phones connected and allows iDrive to read your text messages and emails. |

I have yet to see anyone who has HUD say it's not worth it (myself included). Probably the single best bang-for-the-buck item you can purchase. Just do it and thank us later.

+ 1 must have. My favorite feature is being able to scroll through and select different tracks on my iPhone playlist without having to change the idrive screen contents. The navigation directional instructions are second favorite feature. Oh, and because I did ED having HUD allowed me to have a digital readout of my speed in KM which was HUGELY helpful as trying to read it on the analog tach at a glance is not easy.

I have to say... I thought it was useless also until the dealer sent me on a test drive by myself and said watch the windshield and follow what it tells you exactly.
I was sold and made sure it was in my order. |

If the cash is not a problem then just do it. I drove a 328 with the HUD countless times and I did love it, however when building my car I had a set price point that I did not want to go over. I got the navigation as a standalone because 1 grand for the HUD was just not worth it to me. Is it cool, yes; a thousand dollars cool, not in my opinion. I opted for other things like HK sound and the flappy paddle sport tranny.

The HUD is awesome. Put it this way - every car I have owned has a feature so awesome that I require it on my next car. In the F30, that feature is the HUD.

Without the "Enhanced Bluetooth option" I believe the phone has to plug into the car via the USB to access the music library. See the attachment, should hopefully clear things up.
