Indeed almost every dealer is asking for a mark up, it's inevitable...

It is not inevitable .. and it is certainly not the norm ... it is excessive greed in a seller's market. Most of the people in here got their cars at or below MSRP.

Loss of customer base because of greed is what is inevitable.

I guess it's conditional then... Most dealers here in SoCal have marked up all their M3's/M4's and they are selling out within first or second week after PDI'ing the vehicle...

The fact that they have 10 M3/4s sitting on the lot says everything.

It's really tough to say which dealer isn't... I do believe Steve Thomas isn't asking for a mark up, but generally speaking, almost every dealer is... It's the nature of this business and has been for many years... When a new hot model comes out, there's always going to be a mark up regardless... When I worked for both Lexus and Mercedes, it's been like that.

Haha, i was gonna comment that and decided not to. Rather than saying something along the lines of "sorry we couldn't have helped, right now prices are not budging" he just decided to go with the IDGAF comment lol.

Similar story happened to me in NYC, bottom line is, this is a BMW, its not a pagani, or an F50. Relax, its not that serious.

Well what can I say, the man has made his choice, a choice he could have made with a dozen different dealerships... Obviously the term "mark ups" exist, because well... Naturally they do... Is it fair? I don't think so, but in all fairness "there's an ass for every seat" goes into play in the sales business... Luckily I am not apart of that dynamic, now am I happy for the man? Absolutely, hence why I gave him a thumbs up... We get hundreds of phone calls from people asking about our "mark ups" and as I said before, they exist for a reason... Is it greed? Quite possibly but we are a business at the end of the day, I guess you could say every single retail business is "greedy" and in it for the up most biggest pay out?

Well I am not going to sugar coat things, let's be honest, people shop around for the best deal possibly especially on something that's hot and new... I can't blame the guy, the damage is done...

As I said above, I'm happy for the guy, another member in the ///m family, I am however waiting for the LCI model F82 M4 to come out myself so I am anticipating the release date...

But as you said so gingerly, it's just a BMW, not some exotic, so... It's not that serious...
