QUIET Tires

ok ya'll I'm looking for some new tires....what do you all suggestion. The last couple sets I've gotten have been pretty loud. I would prefer something a little quiet. Let me know

Previous tires:
Vredestine (loudest)
Sumitomo (loud)
General Tire (Love these but discontinued)
Falken FK452 (was the quietest, but short life)

I love my Coopers

They are not run-flats but I love mine.

Keep in mind that there are loud Direzzas and quieter Direzzas, loud and quiet models of Sumitomo and General, etc. Best to be specific on which model of tire you are recommending to someone so that they do not purchase the wrong one.

What size(s) were you trying to find?

I'm looking for 225/35/19 255/30/19 (maybe 265/30/19) what do you have over ther Gary???

And I guess i should have mentioned I WAS NOT looking for run flats. The Dunlops I saw reviews said they were loud. The DZ101. I also was looking at Pirelli.

On another note Gary I ordered a set of Sumitomo HTR Z III tires from tirerack had them on for less then about 5k miels...and 2 of the 4 tires "bubbled" up really really really bad...when I took them off 7/8 of the tire on the inside of the tire had bubbled.

I had them on my Speed 3 and never had any issues. Buy a tire warranty from your installer if you are concerned about flats.

I had them on a Speed 3 for several years and they were quiet. My friend who had a prelude had them on his car he got them because of how quiet they were and then told me about them. Take those reviews with a grain of salt.

For quietest tires in those sizes (225/35R19 255/30R19) for non run flats, check out the Hankook Ventus V12 EVO 2 and Goodyear F1 Asymmetric.

If you can use 225/35R19 and 265/30R19, you can find even quieter options like the Continental Extreme Contact DWS for an all season, or Extreme Contact DW for a summer tire.

We have not found that the HTRZIII is any more likey to bubble than other brands, but bubbling is not uncommon in tires with these low profile sizes (especially after a winter that was very hard on the roads).

Which would be a better overall tire, Conti DWS or MPS A/S3's? I would be using it as a daily driver in NY on my 2008 335xi staggered style 162's

Thanks

The Conti DWS has much better snow and ice traction between the two along with a softer ride, while the Sport A/S03 has quicker steering response and more dry grip.

I have Conti DWS and could not be happier. I'm about 95% sure I'm going to order them again. Plus they have a 540 treadwear rating

The DZ101 was an older, entry level tire that did not shine in any particular area.

Not sure what Sumitomos you had OP, but I had 3 sets of the HTR Z III on 3 different cars, and they were wonderful. Noise, wear, grip, for the money they were great.

I run 235/35-19 up front and a 275/30-19 in the rear on 8.5 and 9.5 wheels.

Very quiet. Long life too.

i have to say Michelin pilot super sport are one of the quietest tires i've driven on.
and tire rack rates them very high... they have excellent grip and they are expensive... with that said if your gonna drift or do burnouts on them... they will not last very long and a huge waste of money.

but if you drive normally suspension is not out of whack.. these should last quite a while.

I guess the 5 series peeps don't like RFTs either or at least not Goodyears.
