Went in for 25K service - new software is noticeable
Bought my car CPO in November of 2013, so this was the first time in for service since. Assuming the car was running latest software at purchase, there is an update with two noticeable changes - one good and one bad:
The Good: Heavier steering in Sport. I could tell the diff from Comfort to Sport before, but it is much more pronounced heavy feel in Sport. Definite improvement, so they have clearly been listening. The Bad: Transmission lag. Not sure what they did here, but the transmission was perfect before. Now a stab on the throttle is followed by a noticeable lag in downshifting making Comfort mode borderline dangerous for trying to merge on the highway or pass someone. I have also noticed some rough 2-3 shifts in Sport mode that we're not there before. Curious if anyone else has had a similar experience after a recent service. Jimbo |

When I had my car's software updated this spring, I noticed the heavier steering right away. It's heavier, but doesn't really imply more communicative steering...it's still pretty numb. I do like it for better on-center feel though.
I didn't get any transmission lag...if anything the shifts are very crisp. Going full throttle in sport mode produces a bump and a barely audible thud noise from the tranny as it shifts gears under load (I don't have SAT). This part feels good. What doesn't feel good is tooling around the city in Sport + DS and getting occasional jerks from the drivetrain. For example, accelerate lightly to 20 mph, release the gas and then push it again lightly. Half the time the transmission will shift with a jerk. Dealer says it's normal. |

@KGB - That's a great point about the steering. Heavier? Yes. Less numb? probably not.
Transmission has oddly improved, but had noticeable issues right after picking it up. Jimbo |

Transmission is a result of loss of memory. If you were to disconnect the battery for like 2 hours it hits a reset, and starts back out at factory settings. These cars learn our driving styles, and it takes like 500-1200 miles to get back into where it was.
You should see your transmission get back up to par in a few weeks. |

What else I noticed after a recent software update on my 2012 was that the lights flashed more and the trunk took longer before it opened when using the kick feature. Rather annoying. But steering and ASS are better.

I have 8AT, 11k miles in 8 months, no battery disconnects, so my tranny should understand me pretty well by now. But driving slow, like around a parking lot, especially if not warmed up, is a herky-jerky experience. Wants to drop back to first at funny times. Embarrassing when you have passengers in your Ultimate Driving Machine.

About the jerky experience everybody talking about,,, have the same issue and i searched every where to find the solution!
what i found and did and it was 100% successful for me was: while the car in start but the engine is not running push the accelerator to the kick down position for 5 seconds and then push the engine start bottom,,,the car will shut down,,,, wait for 2 min. then start the engine and take a drive.... the jerky movement will disappear,,, try it and give me your feedback it went well for me |

I also read this somewhere, but your wording is wrong. what this basically does is reset the adaptive transmission. Here are the steps:
1. Start power, but don't start engine 2. Floor the accelerator and hold for 20 seconds. 3. Release, wait 10 secs and push start which will power off the car. 4. Wait for 10 seconds and start the car normally |
