ASS and Fuel Pump Related?

Hey guys,

So my mom took delivery of a leased 2014 428xi convertible late in June. When she picked up the car the dealer told her that when they were unwrapping it they found it had a bad fuel pump and that she could either order a new one, or they could swap the fuel pump form another 428 and take delivery a few hours later that day. She wanted that car, and decided to go with the advice of the head mechanic that the car would be perfectly fine, and drove away with it later that day.

Trouble came in when she accidentally turned ASS on (had been off, and being a '14 is set to save to last setting) and realized that the car lurches violently on restart. She says she can barely tell the re-start on my '13 335xi vs hers.

I know there are several threads about this, but I have found nothing that would suggest a relation with a new fuel pump. What do you all think? Related? Will a simple re-code be the cure all?

Also, any advice on how to get music on her iPhone to play thru the car's stereo (no tech pkg or enhanced BT)?

FYI car details:
2014
428xi Convertible
Alpine White / Saddle Leather
Luxury Line
Cold Weather Package
Premium Package
M-Sport pedals

Can't she just plug the iPhone into the USB port in the center console?

Sorry I never use ASS except if I turn it on by accident.

She has plugged it in via USB cord and nothing happens.

Meaning she switched to Media/External Devices and selected her iPhone and nothing happens?

Correct. When you go to external devices, the iPhone doesn't even show up. BT phone operation works flawlessly though- so the car and the phone do like each other

Dealer couldn't figure it out (of course..) and sent her a Y cable which simultaneously plugs in to the AUX and USB, but the other end is typical 30pin "old iPod" style connector so it doesn't work with her 5S.

ASS issue not related to the fuel pump. Had the same problem on my 13' 328i x-drive. Required replacement of the accumulator assembly in the transmission to correct. The difference is night and day now.
