Who bought GC cuz they needed 4 doors- or thought it looked better
I have been a coupe guy for a long time- have had sedans A6 Audi 2.7T (Nice car) and A4/ZHP sedan. Also have had Z4/Scirroco and last 8 years have had 2 other ZHP Coupe/Convertibles. I dont need the 4 doors but to my eye- the Gran Coupe just looks better than the coupe- not that the coupe is ugly- I love both of these- but the GC extended roofline just does it for me. Obviously subjective.
But did you buy the GC for looks mainly or 4 door functionality? |

after having an E46, E90,F25(X3), I wanted to tryout a Coupe, and when the F32 came out I was sure that was going to be my next car... Until I saw the GC, I don't need the 4 doors anymore but the GC gives you the 4 Coupe + the extra doors and that is hard to beat... My GC should arrive in about 2 weeks I test drove the Coupe & GC and both feel very sporty. In person the GC looks great just as much as the Coupe!!.
I do agree with you the ROOFLINE looks really nice.. And you can tell the difference between the GC and the F30!!! Good luck with your decision!!!!

I seriously cannot tell the difference between the 4GC and the F30. Of course I KNOW there is a difference, but the side profile, the cars are identical to the naked eye.

Then looked at the 3GT msport, most things were great, especially the room, great hatch, and especially the msport steering wheel, but the exterior styling was a bit odd. Also, considered the X4, but Price was too high for what you got, and the looks were so so, and no m wheel. Then I heard about a 4 door 4 series called the Gran Coupe, and ever since I picked up my first brochure I was captivated! By the Practicality first and then Looks! (Without the Liftback I would have not gotten it ). Next month it should be here!!

i understand your taste, a lot of europeans prefer the Audi A5 sportback over the a5 coupe just for the looks... i personnaly couldnt sacrify the coupe's sexy hips for two more doors, would it be an a5 or abimmer...
( i have 2 kids and they pay that price ) |

I was ready to buy a 4 coupe and sacrifice the practicality of 2 back doors. I thought the 4 coupe looked light years better than a 335 sedan (lower, wider, meaner, sexier lines).
The release of the 4GC completely snuck up on me. The first one I saw was in the flesh at the dealer in my fav all time BMW color Carbon Black. The 4GC in person I believe is the best looking BMW design (non M). The earlier poster who talked about "hips", the 4GC has them! Now not only do I have 4 doors, .... I have a sexier car, and I actually get a 5th door (hatch). The practicality is ridiculous. Meanwhile this car (435GC) is so fun and low and wide and beautiful. I couldn't resist. Love it |

Just saw a 438i 4GC today, it sits lower than the F30 and comes with a hatch back trunk. I like the way AUDI A7 looks, but not the 4GC.

Utility of a small hatch.
Convenience of 4 doors. Lower & sleeker look. Even with no kids, I don't think I'll ever buy a coupe. I'd rather have a cramped back seat with door to get in/out, than a roomy back seat and have people awkwardly climb in/out. |

I bought a coupe before the GC came out. I don't need 4 doors and will have someone in the back seat maybe 3-4 times per year.
But I do love a hatchback for carrying big stuff easily, though the need for this is pretty rare too. I sometimes wonder if I would've gone for the GC if I had've had the choice. I suspect the answer is yes, mainly for the hatch and the ease of accessing the back seat for stuff, rather than putting people in there. So, I'm sort of glad I didn't have the choice because in all the photos I like the Coupe more than the GC. It's not a big margin, but it is real. The coupe just looks sleeker and sportier to me and I like the big doors for looks and for access when there's room to open them properly. I haven't seen a GC in the flesh, so I don't know if this would change my mind. I really hope it doesn't when i do. Anyway, I intend to change cars every 2-3 years from here on in, so I can move to a 5 door then if I get tired of the coupe. So, in summary, I probably would've bought the GC, but not because I needed 4 doors (which I don't) nor because I prefer the looks (which I don't) but mainly for the convenience of the hatch. There is something odd and aesthetically unpleasant about the pillars on the grand coupe. I love the general profile but I can't get over the design on the sides. I just let go my F30 after 7 months and currently considering both F30 and F32.

I personally think the 4GC is what the F30 3 SHOULD have been. 1) theres no need for a 4GC when its relatively the same size and a direct competitor to a car in the same brand.....2) its just SOOOO much prettier

if you had a choice....would you buy an m-sport 335 or a no-line 435 GC, price is about the same. I'm thinking 99% of people on here would prefer the m-sport 335, primarily based on performance rather than having the 5th door or looks.
