Price Check: 2007 328i

Hey all, wondering what you think of the price on this 328i. I've talked him down to 12,500, and he told me the car needs an O2 sensor and a rear window regulator. I'm having an inspection done to make sure nothing else is needed.

Other than the basic maintenance, the car has had it's catalytic converters replaced. It's the second owner, bought CPO, and serviced under warranty at the dealership all of it's life.

Thoughts?

Car has over 100k miles, its loaded, need some minor repairs, and it is not a 335; have a mechanic inspect it before you commit to anything. As far as the price goes I would say $10.5-$11.5 should be the price range if the mechanic gives it a clean bill of health and the exterior/interior is in great condition. Find out if he replaced the water pump and valve cover gasket because at this mileage they are on their way out. If this work hadn't been done then you should mention that in the price negotiation. Also at this mileage ALL the fluids should have been replaced as well as the tranny pan/filter and fluid. Good chance that the ignition coils are going to start going too if they hadn't been replaced yet..

I just looked at a similar car at a dealer. They were asking almost 13k. I was weary about the water pump and a few other things. Got a ppi done and sure enough there were codes thrown for the water pump and tstat. The dealership was less than pleased. I told them I would not buy the car in it's current state and wanted it fixed. They had a warranty on the car for 3k mi/3 month. The shop who did the ppi told me that the car wouldn't make it that long before it went out. I told the dealer they'd be basically paying to have it done anyway. I have them an offer of 10500 and I'd do the repairs myself. They laughed and told me "we'd rather take our chance with whole sale" since they were in the car 12500. PO traded it for 10,000 and they put 2500 into it.

Always, always get a ppi done. Saved me BIG time.
