Tesla beats 335i
Just realized that those teslas can rly move.
Not sure I personally can ever switch to an electric car since mpg for gas cars will continue to improve, the sound, and I don't really care about the environment. |

You need to step up to an M5 to compete with those. Even then you may still not win through the quarter.
My only issue with going electric is the exhaust. I spent $1000+ to upgrade my exhaust and others here have rightfully said you need to spend more to get the note to the right place. Akra maybe and I agree with them. So until the time comes when I can live without the exhaust then maybe it will be time for the switch.

Was that your 335? Just asking to see how modded the F30 was. Yep, those Teslas can move. The difference is, he probably significantly lowered his driving range from those pulls.

The driving range on these things is definitely a huge problem, a massive infrastructure of charging stations is a must. I also heard horror stories of the stations not even working properly and the owners having to get their cars towed. |

The Model S batteries drain like crazy in this kind of runs and probably by the 10th(?) run or so the 335i will pull ahead until the last drop of gas.

Yeah, not surprised at all - I saw a video of a F10 M5 losing to a Model S. Electric cars have instant torque at 0 RPM. The hypercars are even going hybrid - McLaren P1, Porsche 918, Ferrari TheFerrari (LaFarreri)

First pull Tesla won clean. Second pull the Tesla took off way earlier than the 335i. Anyway, we all know that electric vehicles have enormous and instant torque, especially in a sport oriented car like a Tesla. This is great and I'm sure electric cars of the future will be loads of fun. As long as they can figure something out about the heavy and short-lived batteries.
Now compare that Tesla against a like-priced gas car such as a 911 and this will be a more reasonable comparison. FYI the french TGV (electric train) has the record for fastest train in the world (on rails). There is one motor per axle. I think people who equate electric with "less power" are basing this on their experience with garden tools. |

It is what it is I don't think you will find one instance where I state I have personally raced anything and indeed I am an amateur at best when it comes to personally racing cars. Just to clear that up so we can put that to bed.

Here's my car vs a Tesla, DA was 1410, I logged and was getting significant timing pull from the knock sensors, probably should have thrown some 100 in there. Trans was short shifting at 6-6.4k RPM, so lots of horsepower being left on the table. APR stg 2 B8.5 S4, I'd probably beat him in better conditions

P85 only…if it's a 60 or 85,both of them will be slower than the 335i. Well..with the money you spend on P85 you can get super cars like Audi R8, Nissan GTR, Porches 911..etc. Plus the top speed Tesla can go is 120mph on the P85, so don't give up while you are trailing behind with you BMW 335i.

Didn't some magazine do a drag race of a Model S vs an M5? I'd be surprised if the 335i can even come near matching its acceleration. I tried driving that beast, was surprised with not only the instant acceleration (feels right out of a science fiction book) but also the handling. Car felt very flat and predictable in the corners, I could really throw it around.
But somehow, at that price I would still want an M3. Even if Tesla put supercharging stations every ten miles.. I would still want an M3. In blue . |

Also, if you're using the Tesla for something else other than a drag rage, then be happy you're in a 335i... http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...-model-s-video They say that if the Tesla wouldn't have gone into battery preservation mode, it would be capable of a ~9 min lap time. Compare that to a 8:26 of the E92 335i or 7:08 for the GT-R Nismo... Also, 4.4sec to 100kph should be easily beaten by the new M3/M4 quoted at under 4sec with the dual-clutch auto.

A tesla will make mincemeat of most sports-cars in a straight line, especially from a rolling start.
But it will be squashed on a track because of the weight of all those batteries. It weighs twice as much as a 435i. |

What? A 335i weighs about 3600 pounds. A Tesla S85 does not weigh 7200 pounds. It weighs 4650 pounds. And size wise it competes against the 4200 pound 5 series.
