Major delays with CN rail

Stopped by the dealer just now and spoke to the GSM. He tells me CN has major backlog within Canada (especially trains going out west). Average delay time is 1.5 months. They have sent request to load my car as priority but really not sure if that will help.

This is probably why people in Toronto are getting their cars trucked and it is also much quicker to get their cars.

No way!

1.5 months is inequitable.

If a dealer won't pay to ship it by truck, it's only $300 and it takes 4-5 days to Toronto.

Crazy. You would think they would send BC cars through Tacoma.

I am not sure what to say. I just hope the cars for out west gets going. I am also annoyed waiting for it to load on rail for 3 weeks.

That's just unbelievable! Does the CN issue apply to all trains going in a western direction?

Yes apparently it does but it affects the car movements more because they had very low rail cars to begin with.

This issue with CN rail has been going on for quite a while now. Apparently there is a shortage of rail cars in both Canada and the US to transport the cars from Autoport.

So I guess trucking wouldn't be an option for some?

Did you get yours yet?

No as my order got screwed up!The car was built without the EDC so I reordered the car which was to be a July production unit.I also changed my colour to Moonstone which pushed the car back to a late August build which means September delivery at best.It is a good thing that I did not do the Euro delivery as I would not have accepted the car if I had been thinking rationally This is the 3rd BMW in a row that has had equipment shortfalls or wrong colours that I have ordered.I have been shown the dealer receipt's of the order being correct so the issue seems to be an internal BMW issue!

Yes, I guess your right about that because the press and film crew was there documenting everything so if there was a major screw up that would not look good on BMW. I guess it is true stuff happens for a reason.

So my car sits in Halifax and gets pooped on by seagulls while it waits for a train that is not coming, so i hope it gets trucked in ASAP!

Its not as bad as it seems as I am still driving my 2011 E92 M3 till I sell it and there are a few interesting cars round here that I can drive till the M4 arrives.I had a 2011 SLS AMG to use for a weekend

Well with a line up like that, how could you not have a smile on your face.

All I have is a X1 they gave me to use.

So I ride the K1300S, even when it rains!

This is not good news! My car is set to arrive in Halifax on July 28 and a 1.5 month delay would be excruciating! Please continue to provide updates as you get them.

Just googled CN Rail Delays and found this article:

http://www.ctvnews.ca/mobile/canada/...rail-1.1907237

Could this be part of the reason? 2 automobile carriers were part of the derailment. I would rather have my car sitting in Halifax than be on that rail car
