Oh My!

Had jb4 running for a month... No problems.

Installed MPE... No problems

This afternoon... Installed BMS intake...

5 minutes drive no problems.

6th minute....problem.

CEL came on... Then Drivetrain Malfunction... Maximum output not available.

Could not connect to JB4 at all... (Have done many times in the past)

I completely removed the JB4... No help... I disconnected and reinstalled the factory intake...

No help.

Car is now completely factory, with MPE...

CEL STILL ON

DRIVETRAIN MALFUNCTION... Still going on...

Any damn clues anyone?

not a big deal, ur car will probably go into limp mode. its most likely a bad connection, ground or power. happened to me as well.

Please forgive me, as I didn't hook it up. However, when disconnecting it.. I reattached two BMW connections.

Both on the right side of the car.

1) back on/close to the firewall, had to remove engine cover to access it

2) behind the air box and down.

Does that make sense?

I was told if you touch the actual sensor on the O2 sensor itself it goes bad. Maybe that's the case?

Not this will clear the CEL, but when you add/remove the JB4 it is recommended to remove power to the car by disconnecting the battery. I did this procedure everytime I have installed a device or remove one; always disconnect the battery.

Disconnect the battery for 1 hour and reconnect and see if the CEL will clear itself. If not, you will need an OBDII reader/reset tool to clear the fault.

Update #1...

Took it to a local shop, their showing the codes... They clear them... Instantly the codes come right back.

This is fantastic.

Would be helpful if we knew exactly what the codes were.

If all connections are good (no air leaks) then the MAF is reading to much air mixture causing CEL.

I have seen alot of this (bsm intake) cel issues.

Reading this is really putting me off buying a jb4. It could however be possible there is a fault that is nothing to do with your upgrades. If you can't sort it out with the advice above then I would get it back to stock and take it to BMW.

No expert but i think the intake prbly allow to much hot air and trigger the sensor

This is why i dont like hot air intakes on turbo cars

Sounds like you need to leave everything stock; which you said you did. Double check all you sensors.wires are connected properly; reseat them. Try clearing the codes again. If same code comes up then you will need to take it to BMW for diagnostic check. Be prepared get charged for the repair work.
