I thought it would be fun to create a bunch of polls and have them all in one central post instead of having them all over the place so that we, the forum users can come back to reference.
My thinking here is that we sometimes get a great thread going such as water pumps and reliability... Then someone asks how long they last, random answers come in from many of our valued community members but nothing of which is concrete enough or consolidated well enough to make any real sense. So just how long does the average E9x Water pump last? How long do your run flats last? How long have your turbos lasted and so on... Please check these out and vote so that we can see (generally) what type of life we should expect out of our BMW components and our generalized community thoughts. I understand that there are always outliers, I am primarily looking for averages here. It's the best we have to go on. These polls are general towards just E9x unless otherwise specified. Please post any comments, suggestions, or thoughts. I can add more polls to the thread if we want to add to this single one stop stat thread. So to start: 1) When did your Water Pump Blow on your 335? http://goo.gl/z10JBn 2) When did your turbo(s) blow (335)? http://goo.gl/LDljPI 3) How long did your run flats last? http://goo.gl/YpDcVN 4) Has your E9x ever Caught Fire/Ignited/Spontaneously Combusted? http://goo.gl/ZpnbDh 5) Leather or Leatherette? http://goo.gl/MthljW 6) Alpina Flash - Yay or Nay? http://goo.gl/55vcqJ 7) Golf Tee Mod - Yay or Nay? http://goo.gl/wueB8D 8) Best Tune Available for 335? http://goo.gl/KvJ88P 9) When did you start having AT issues? http://www.poll-maker.com/poll117312x70DAdda8-4 10) My AC Broke at: http://goo.gl/HvWKIF 11) What Temp Does your N54 or N55 Engine Run at? http://goo.gl/GypvMs 12) Now that the N55 has been out a few years, what is more reliable. N54 or N55? http://goo.gl/CBYp2S 13) HPFP Failed on 335 at: http://goo.gl/Us31Je 14) For any BMW you have ever owned. How long did it last you and when did it get sent out for scrap metal? http://goo.gl/EKHn0S 15) Best coilover setup for the E9x: http://goo.gl/dqaJNg 16) What is the best FMIC for the 335? http://goo.gl/Hm7Ls0 17) Is it cool to put plastidip on your E9x? http://goo.gl/u7heHR 18) What is the best exhaust for the E9x 335? http://goo.gl/1E2G8T 19) What is the best aftermarket Angel Eye replacement bulb? http://goo.gl/KTi08p 20) Best downpipes for the E9x 335? http://goo.gl/nCwmfP 21) Best intake for E9x 335? http://goo.gl/wZkHDf 22) Would you 'stance' an E9x? http://goo.gl/bW7z33 23) Which engine would you rather tune - N54 or N55? http://goo.gl/DMTkoK 24) If money were no object, what would you chose? 328, or 335? http://goo.gl/zmwl64

Fixed the HPFP pole and added one more. I see a few votes already so keep them coming! I think this can turn into something very helpful with our data points.

Thank you for all who have voted so far! We are starting to get some good metrics and on our way to getting some really helpful charts and stats for the community. Once we get more data I will start to post up some of the more interesting statistics to this thread for a periodic check in at a glance.
For now, please vote if you have something to add to our fellow forum members. I'd like to also point out that even if you don't want to vote for anything, you can still click on one of the questions and view results without voting. So even if you are still on your original water pump at 100k, you can see how other members have done with theirs. Some early stats are in. But of course the more votes we have the better! First Image: When did your water pump blow? Second Image: When did your turbo blow? (this is encouraging)

Please add jb4 to your tune list.
Also might want to add polls for DCI, FMIC, Aftermarket turbos, tinted windows, Msport bumper...DPs, Stanced? (I know, ugh), Angel eyes, coil overs, LSD

Thanks for the feedback guys. I have made some updates to the questions to make them more directed at a specific 3 series.

There's various threads asking the same kinds of questions so you could get your answers from there and consolidate the data if you want. It would also give more detailed answers perhaps.

I kind of like this idea...hate seeing multiple threads asking "when did your water pump die ?", or for that matter "when did your XXXXXX die?".

Voted. I think this could be quite useful.
However, "How long did your run-flats last" is kind of vague. I trashed mine before they even got to the end of their life because they sucked so much. Also, a tough question to answer for anyone running a staggered set-up where the rears last ~1/2 as long as the fronts. Might be more beneficial to ask what tires everyone is running. I don't think many people on the forums stuck with the stock run-flats. If I ever buy a brand new BMW the run-flats are coming off the day I purchase the car, and the Super Sports are going on immediately.

I'd like to go for sticky with this one as the one thing I noticed missing was a consolidated view of user feedback on reliability. The more answers we have, the more accurate of an average we can ascertain.
It is very easy for me to add/remove questions as we go. The run flats was just something I thought of. Again any suggestions I am open to, if there is a particular thing we want to poll and consolidate in this thread I will add it to the leading post. Thanks for the feedback!

For detail, users can use search. One thing about this poll is we don't know who the users are so you are anonymous. Except for your location. With enough votes, we may be able to tell more HPFPs fail in the south or something of the like.

I have added a few more polls. And also fixed a temporary 'dead link' bug in my thread. Apparently if you edit a thread from the iPhone app it screws up the url's. This is now fixed.
Added threads for the following: Exhaust Options Angel Eyes Best Downpipes Best Intakes Keep the votes coming in!

So far it seems like the HPFP either blows before 50k or its still working. Interesting.
If you've had HPFP failures please chime in!

The maintenance part was fun then the poll stepped into the bias "whats the best xxx part" this opens a few cans of worms. youll never get a "best" part due to everyone has a different application/approach towards their modding preference. example the best coilover in terms of tune-ability would prolly cost you in the 5k+ range is that the best for a guy that sits in a 30 mile cummute to work everyday and takes his grandma to doctor visits? i wouldnt think so.
nice poll action, just wish it was internal to e90post as a quick reference.
