lol thanks for the heads up and the help! I wonder if I can get it coded so that I can do every feature while driving, such as play a DVD video or other features. Just so my passengers can watch on my next road trip.

ya you can code DVD in motion... look at the cheat sheet and also play video from USB stick instead of DVD and DivX and other video formats

Just ordered my cable! How exciting! What happens if you press code default values? I'm assuming just back to stock?

no matter what you do, DO NOT PRESS CODE DEFAULT VALUES.

Make a backup copy before you do anything coding.

Do not press "Code default values"... to go to factory settings you use "Code" (also know as VO code) instead of "Code FDL"

If you use "Code default values" you might have to have your car towed to the dealer as it might not start back up....

Really good video here

I'm stuck at the part where I need a token. Not sure exactly where to get it. I've gone through most of the instruction PDFs.

Look at the "How To" instructions for obtaining your token. This will need to be purchased to activate the changes to your car. It is always good to take a backup of the FA and VO everytime you have a coding session. This will give you a good point in time should you need to undo a previous change. Copy the backup to another device like a thumb drive and store it away from your computer.

In the event something goes wrong, how does one restore the data from a working backup of the ncd files? I'm assuming you copy over all the files (ovewrite) from your backup to the CAF folder, and then what action will need to be done on Esys?

No need to overwrite....

Open esys and then either load a backed up SVT or you need to do "Read SVT" then for the ECU's CAFD you want to update just do right click - New - FDL and pick the backed up ncd file... make sure you pick the right one else it won't load values meaning you can't load the FEM_BODY ncd into the HU_NBT... then right click the CAFD again and do "Code FDL

and do the same for each FDL you want....

Also if you just want to go back to the factory setting you code VO code the whole car and will reset any custom coding...just select the top "SVT" root and click "Code"

BY NO REASON EVER CLICK "CODE DEFAULT VALUES"

Even though the software is readily available on the net...
You need to be extremely careful when working with E-SYS! You can brick your car.
You'll then either have to play dumb, or beg the service people at the dealer to fix it.
Make backups, move slowly, and understand what you are going to to, BEFORE you do it.

Anyone in the CA Bay Area, I'm happy to help you set up and give you some tips on your coding setup, or do coding for you (for free!)

system requirements

GREAT info in here, thanks pikcachu. For somebody who's not a programming genius, do you know what minimum system requirements I would need on my laptop to run E-SYS?

you will need about 8GB of hard drive space for software and pdzsdata, and esys uses about 1GB of memory to run smoothly

Great info, as always pikachu. Thanks!

One more question: How much does the software token cost?

Any advice on coding the Enhanced Bluetooth (6NS)? My M235i is coming with Pro-Nav (ZNP), but not Enhanced Bluetooth. Would love to get this sorted.

I've got an ENET cable on its way to me, and ready to go with all the E-Sys tools (got version 3.25.3, with token and pin, and PSdZData 52.1).
