Accelerator Pedal Removal

I am trying to replace my accelerator pedal, but I can't figure out how to get the current one off. There is a black plastic connector plug where the wires run into the pedal (see pictures), and I can't get that plug or the wires out. It looks like maybe you have to squeeze and pull, but no matter where I squeeze and how hard I pull, it won't come out. Can anybody give me idiot proof directions on how to get this plug out? Thanks!

Because Henry is like a friend of mine with a really fast boat - we always tell him he should get rid of the throttle and just install an on/off switch.

I'm replacing the standard pedal with this: http://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/61...EEL-PEDAL-PADS

Or at least I'm trying to, if I can get the old pedal off!

Have you ordered the new kit yet? When you have had a chance to examine the new accelerator pedal, there is a good chance you will find that the new pedal anchors on to the existing pedal, and does not replace it.

Please do not remove the existing one until you have verified this.

You can see a similar install here: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...less+pedal+diy

Thanks alpinweiss. I already have the new pedals, and the new accelerator pedal doesn't just attach to the existing pedal. It is actually a replacement of the entire accelerator pedal unit. In theory, it should be much easier to install than the M pedals in your link because you just take out the existing pedal (easier said than done) and plug in the new one - only one screw to remove and no drilling required. It is just hard to unplug the wires because you have little room to maneuver and low light down there. The brake pedal is just a rubber cover that slides over the pedal base after you remove the existing rubber cover - I did manage to handle that part.

Just push the top of the clip parts, and wiggle it off.

Thanks olinjonhston! I finally got it off. One of the tabs was definitely jammed, so I had to break it off, but thanks for confirming that I was pulling on the right thing. I didn't want to break the wrong thing off. The new pedals look great!
